❤️🐱❤️American writer Ernest Hemingway was undoubtedly one of the most iconic cat lovers in the literary world, alongside Mark Twain, who took his love for cats so far that he refused to associate with people who didn’t like them and even rented cats when he couldn’t travel with his own.
❤️🐈⬛❤️Many of you are probably familiar with Hemingway’s house in Key West, Florida, home to about 60 cats. Hemingway’s first polydactyl cat, named Snow, was a gift from a captain and marked the beginning of his deep bond with these animals.
❤️🐱❤️Many of the cats living at the Hemingway House today are descendants of Snow, and all are lovingly cared for by the staff. It’s a wonderful place for both literature lovers and cat enthusiasts. A tradition at the Hemingway House is that all the cats, after Snow, are named after famous characters, with Mark Twain being one of them, as he was a literary influence on Hemingway.
