All too often the methods for killing rodents and "pests" also affect surrounding wildlife- including our local community cats.

Whether its a glue trap where an animal gets stuck and is in fear until they starve to death or die from dehydration- or a rodent eats an ingestible poison and a cat or bird of prey find its and eats it- there is consequences.

We need to reevaluate how we as people interact with the other species we live with and learn to coexist.

Advocates are calling on the British Columbia government to ban these inhumane devices and implement more ethical and effective alternatives.

As a small non-profit rescue organization we rely heavily on the connections and partnerships we build within our community; both with individuals and with local businesses.

We love working with small independent businesses and owners as we believe small business is vital not only for the economy but also for the health of one's community.

These are just the businesses that have ongoing commitments with us and is not a full list of small businesses that support/have supported us.

With the expected snowfall warning and freezing temperatures expected for this weekend I thought I would share this again.

Also, when buying road salt please opt for the PAW-safe varieties.
Not only is it safer for those dogs being walked, and our local community cats; but we also drag in salt from our shoes/boots so this will; also protect your own furry residents

⚠️Snowfall Warning for Eastern Fraser Valley – Protect Your Cats! ⚠️

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning with high winds in the Eastern Fraser Valley. Ensure your furry friends are safe during this cold spell. 🐾❄️

For Indoor/Outdoor Cats:
- Bring them indoors to prevent hypothermia or getting lost.
- Permanent ID (tattoos & microchips) is crucial for reuniting lost pets.

For Community Cats:
- Build a simple, warm shelter (e.g., a Rubbermaid container with straw and a hole cut out). [Link to tutorial included below!]
- Provide fresh water daily—add a few teaspoons of sugar to prevent freezing and boost calories. Heated water bowls are even better!
- Offer kibble instead of wet food to avoid freezing.

Winter Dangers for Cats:
1. Hypothermia
2. Lack of food/water
3. Getting stuck in car engines

As per our Stray Hold Policy:

Last night we took this boy in, he was found in a sealed box in the middle of the road.
On Harris road between Beharrel Rd & Bell Rd.
If you know who's cat this is please come forward, we are submitting the details with a cruelty officer with the BCSPCA.

He is an intact boy, appears to be around the 10 month mark, no ID.
He is used to people and quite affectionate. I cannot imagine what caused someone to do this.

A Special Group to Wrap Up the Series 🌟

Today, we’re sharing the final 10 adoptions from 2024: Henrietta, Iris, Mercury, Tornado, Mango, Stormcloud, Tennile, Howie, Gideon, and Star. 🐾
Each of these cats found love and safety in their forever homes, and we’re so grateful for every happy ending you helped make possible.

While we celebrate these incredible moments, we also hold space for those we’ve lost, like Tom Tom (Kofu), who will always be remembered with love. 💖
