NOTICE POSTED TODAY FOR THE STONEY CREEK SPILL

NOTE: Until further notice from officials, it is highly recommended to not bring your pets to this area until deemed safe to do so.

The City of Abbotsford is working closely with both the Ministry of Environment and Fisheries and Oceans Canada to ensure a spill impacting Stoney Creek is immediately contained and remediated. The spill resulted from firefighting foam being accidentally released from a disconnected hose and entering the storm drain and the waterway.

The City takes this incident very seriously and is taking steps to ensure that this cannot happen again. Public access to the creek has been restricted at the site, as vacuum and flush trucks are working on the storm system to remove remaining residue.

Signage and caution tape have been put up and staff are onsite notifying people walking in the area. Residents are asked to please stay away from the area while clean-up crews are working and keep pets out of the area.

That means they do everything possible to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress during a pet's visit to their clinic. SAINTS' WangWang was very lucky to have a complicated operation performed at Coastal Rivers.

June 4, 2024: Update For BC Veterinarians About Dogs Entering Or Returning To The United States

Below is the most recent information from the CFIA regarding changes to CDC import requirements for dogs. We have learned that the CDC updates the information on its website but does not set apart the new information from the old information. The SBCV recommends that those who may be affected by the changes on August 1, 2024 regularly review the content of the CDC's website and be alert to the fact that recent changes are not highlighted, which may require a closer look at the content.

The SBCV is in contact with the CVMA seeking clarity and accuracy on these changes. The CVMA is working closely with the CFIA which in turn is consulting with the CDC. We are always happy to hear from our members with their questions and concerns.

Dora! Only her second time in the treadmill and just walking like she does this every day: not a care in the world ❤️❤️❤️. Dora is recovering from knee surgery and doing her best to not gain wait while she can’t exercise as much as she’s used to.

Super Sammy! He’s doing so well - at a recent follow up Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital his person got the great news that he is at 80% strength and 50% coordination. Just a few short weeks ago he couldn’t stand and could go pee on his own. Now he just wants to Go! Go! Go!

Sammy update! He’s doing so well!

You know who’s amazing??? Sammy!!! Sammy had surgery on his back for IVDD three weeks ago at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital. His guardians have been doing a wonderful job of being consistent with his home exercise program and following all of their post operative instructions. Today, with the help of a life jacket and the buoyancy of the warm water in our underwater treadmill, Sammy walked for a combined total of five minutes! Thank you for allowing us to help with Sammy’s care 💕💦🐕🏆💫🌊🙌🏼🙌🏼💕
