This week is National Pollinator Week, and helping to save the bees is Project Hive - whose bee-saving toys & treats are on promo until the end of June! ⭐️
Each Project Hive Purchase plants wildflowers to support bee populations 🌸🪻🌼 But why are these little pollinators so important?
🐝 Bees are responsible for pollinating about one in every three bites of food we eat. Without this pollination service, a flowering plant would not be able to produce its fruit!
🐝 Going beyond food, about 250,000 types of flowering plants depend on bees for pollination—so add things like medicines and cotton clothing to the list of items on which we rely upon bees.
🐝 Bees provide a tremendous benefit to our economy. Bee pollination is estimated to bring $200 billion worth of pollination services to the economy worldwide each year.
Unfortunately, bee populations worldwide are in decline, due to bee diseases and habitat destruction. According to The Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund, almost 24 million acres of grassland were converted into cropland over the past decade, eliminating vital habitat. Climate change and insecticide use are exacerbating the problem.
But Project Hive is determined to use business as a force for good – planting wildflowers for ever Project Hive purchase 🩷 They’re partnering with the Butterfly Habitat Fund and the Canadian Honey Council to plant more than 200 square feet of wildflowers for every $50 spent. That’s a tiny home worth of wildflowers! 🌸🪻🌼
