π€©Flying Fox Fish (Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus)π€©
-In the wild Flying Fox Fish can be seen at the bottoms of fast-moving freshwater currents of Indonesia (The Greater Sunda Islands, specifically Borneo, Java, and Sumatra), Peninsular Malaysia/Thailand, and Singapore.
-Flying Fox Fish are good for intermediate fish keepers, with their tank size and temperament being the most difficult to handle. While they can make good community tank members, each fish has its own personality, and a Flying Fox Fish may not be able to get along with others, even with the necessary precautions taken. Their tank must be large enough to accommodate this fishβs active nature and territorial habits.
-Flying Fox Fish prefer a temperature of 74Β° to 81Β° Fahrenheit, requires a mildly acidic to neutral pH of 6.5 to 7.3. When it comes to water hardness, slightly soft to moderate is recommended, between 5Β° to 10Β° dGH (89.3 to 178.6 ppm).
-In captivity, Flying Fox Fish juveniles are around 3 to 4 inches. In captivity, with the proper conditions, this species lives an average of 8 to 10 years
- Best tank mates for Flying Foxes are Larger Tetras, Rasboras, Rainbowfish, Cyprinids, Danios, Gouramis, and Loaches.
Common Names: Chinchilla, long-tailed chinchilla
Adult Size: 9- to 14-inch body, tail adds another 3 to 6 inches
Lifespan: 10 or more years
Chinchillas are small rodents native to rocky, arid regions in South America. They are typically active and playful as pets. And, with gentle handling from a young age, most chinchillas can become quite tame and bond closely with their owners.π
Chinchillas are largely nocturnal, which means they will be most active at night. Sometimes they are called crepuscular, meaning their activity peaks at dawn and dusk.βοΈπ
Their diet consists mainly of a high quality hay πΎand Chinchilla pellets. They occasionally can also have some fruit and veggies. Along with constant access to fresh water.π₯¦π
Chinchillas should never be bathed in water! As natives of arid climates, chinchillas need access to a dust bath for 10-15 minutes a day to maintain a healthy coat and skin. The sand mixture absorbs excess oils and removes dirt. Add a couple inches of chinchilla dust to a container that your chinchilla can easily fit in.βοΈ
Chinchillas need lots of activity to keep them mentally stimulated and physically fit, warding off health issues such as obesity. π
Come by to meet our little guy and see if he would be the right fit for your family! π€©π
The Tiger Tail Cucumber (Holothuria Thomasi) is an echinoderm endemic to the ocean floors of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. They are found at a depth of 3-30 metres, but some reports claim seeing them up to 100 metres! Interestingly they reproduce by fission, meaning one animal can split into 2 identical clones. They are remarkable cleaners, eating detritus, algae and scraps of food from the bottom of your tank. They will pick up and eat whole chunks of rock and sand, and as it passes through their digestive systems it is cleaned. Everything indigestible (freshly cleaned rock) is passed through and extruded. They are completely reef compatible, but may be predated on by larger fish like puffers and triggers. While they look spiky, they are completely soft safe to handle!
Synodontis Petricola, or "Cuckoo Catfish" Is a small bottom feeder hailing from the lake Tanganyika in Africa! They are a very active and friendly catfish that does well in a community tank or even as a clean-up crew in a cichlid tank. Unlike many other catfish, theses little guys only grow to a max of 4 inches and like to be in schools!
This is a Male Emerald Swift ππ€©
The Emerald Swift is a very underrated Reptile. These lizards are indigenous to the southern Mexico and much of Central America. They get their names from their bright green and blue colouring that the males get, females are much more dull in colour.
They are smaller lizards getting to 7-8inches. They require a good amount of humidity inside their enclosures. They are not typically aggressive but you never want to house two males together. They require a temperature during the day of 75-80F with uvb and 70F at night.
If you're looking for something different, new and fun come meet this funky Emerald Swift. π¦π¦π¦
When you're trying to enjoy your breakfast and someone keeps asking for a bite. π€¨
βοΈGreen Brittle Star!βοΈ
He doesn't look like much of a predator but to some small fish and invertebrates he is mighty scary. This green Scavenger moves swiftly across the bottom of your tank cleaning and searching for food. He is not a picky eater. This guy can reach 20 inches in diameter, arm tip to arm tip.
A very cool guy πππ
Coudy water?
This can be caused by several factors.
β’ New tank
β’ Overfeeding
β’ Overcrowding
β’ Bacterial bloom
β’ Algae bloom
Nutrafin clear fast and Nutrafin bio-clear help resolve cloudy water. Clear fast is used to clean up particulate matter such as floating sand, dirt, silt, and floating algae. Clear fast works best when you temporarily replace your filter media with poly wool.
Bio-clear is used to clean up cloudy water which is caused by organic matter, such as excessive food, decaying plants, and new-tank syndrome.

When you watch a hamster fill up his cheek pouch it seems like it must be full and then in goes more!
Did you know that their cheek pouch goes all the way back to their shoulders? In the wild the primary purpose of the cheek pouch is to carry food and sometimes babies, from place to place. This is why so often you see your petβs food dish empty only to find all the food has been stored in his favorite hiding place!
