For our many clients who have senior pets

We often talk about the compassion fatigue that Veterinary staff experience....the endless nights worrying about a patient you did surgery on... or that patient you are worried may not survive the night...or the client that is struggling to manage a compromised pet....
What is less recognized but so very prevalent is CAREGIVER compassion fatigue. Taking care of senior pets can be exhausting, not only financially but physically. The constant worry about leaving the pet at home alone, the worry you aren't doing enough...are they in pain....how to know when it's time to let go.....not to mention the physical aspect of helping them get around and sometimes managing incontinence. When the end occurs, the grief is often compounded by the feeling of guilt as a sense of relief occurs....

While difficult to process, these are all normal feelings. You are not alone and there are tons of support networks now to help.

If you are struggling, your vet also may have resources to refer you to.

You are not alone

We have seen so many ticks this winter. While warm weather is nice, it means there are more ticks.
We have seen many cases of Lyme Disease recently.
Remember to test your dog at least once a year or if you are noticing any symptoms of Lyme Disease (lethargy, fever, limping).
Testing can be done at the clinic and we will have results while you wait.
If your pet is not already on tick prevention, March 1 would be a great time to start for the season.
