Meet Raven – Your Future Best Friend! ❤ 🐾

Hello, I'm Raven! While I might be a bit shy at first, I promise, I’m a total sweetheart once you get to know me. I’ve been waiting for my forever home for a while now, and I just know that with the right person (or family!), I can thrive.

I’m a girl of many talents, though I might come off a bit standoffish when we first meet. It’s just my way of testing the waters because I've been hurt before, and I need to know you’re safe. Once I feel comfortable, you’ll see my true colors— I’m a playful, loving girl who’s just waiting to shower you with affection!

I’m also a bit of a silly one! When I’m excited (like when it's walk time), I’ll do my little tippy-toe dance! 🐾 And my squeaky toys? Well, they’re my absolute favorite! I can’t get enough of them. I may bark a bit too, but don’t worry – that’s just me trying to seem tougher than I really am. Underneath, I’m a big softie who just wants to feel loved and secure.

I’m looking for a family who will be patient with me while I build trust. I need some time to open up, but I promise, once I do, you’ll have a loyal and loving companion for life. I can be a bit picky with other dogs and might need slow introductions to new fur-friends. And with smaller animals, I can get a little too excited, so I’d do best in a home where I’m the only pet, or with introductions done carefully.

If you’re the type of person who can offer me the love, understanding, and patience I need, I know we’ll be best friends in no time! I can’t wait to show you just how sweet and wonderful I am! ❤️

Please call the shelter at 403-768-0274 ext.2 to schedule a meet and greet with me, and maybe even fill out an adoption application. Let’s find our happily ever after!

As you may of heard APARC-Airdrie will be closing March 31, 2025. The staff at APARC have one wish and that is to get all the animals currently at the shelter adopted before March 31, 2025. The staff believe they deserve a forever family and not to be transferred to another rescue/facility. Humans have already let them down once, they do not deserve to be let down again. If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.aparc.ca or call 403-768-0274 Ext. 2 to arrange a meet and greet. The staff at APARC want to thank all of you for your continued support ❤️

This is directly from the Discover Airdrie News Article:

The City of Airdrie has confirmed that Alberta Pound and Rescue Centres (APARC-Airdrie) will no longer provide impound and rescue services for the city after its contract expires on March 31, 2025. However, officials stress that lost and found pet services will continue, with temporary measures in place and a new provider to be named in the coming months.

APARC has provided impound and rescue services for the City of Airdrie since April 2020.

Concerns spread online over whether the city would end pound services, leading to a petition calling for APARC to remain open. After Discover Airdrie requested clarification, the city confirmed that pet services are not being cut but are transitioning to a new model.

City says APARC contract ending, but pound services remain

According to Brad Tomlinson, team leader of Municipal Enforcement, the decision to end the contract with APARC was made in collaboration with the organization and is part of a shift to a new service model.

"We have decided not to renew our service agreement with APARC," Tomlinson wrote. "As the city continues to grow, we are focused on moving towards a new model that continues to be sustainable with our growth and provides the best possible services to our residents."

The city confirmed:

APARC’s contract was set to expire on March 31, 2025, and the city chose not to renew it.
Cost was not a deciding factor.
APARC was involved in discussions throughout the process.
Public consultation was not required, as vendor contracts are handled through municipal procurement policies.
Officials added that their responses were provided in collaboration with APARC.

Temporary measures in place, long-term provider still undetermined

While a long-term provider has not yet been selected, the city has confirmed temporary solutions:

Stray cats can be taken to Tails to Tell animal shelter in Crossfield. Residents unable to travel there can contact Municipal Enforcement for assistance.
Stray dogs can be picked up by Municipal Enforcement or dropped off at the Municipal Enforcement building.
The city says these temporary measures will remain in place until a permanent provider is selected. Further details will be announced in the coming months.

Petition emerges amid public uncertainty

Before the city publicly addressed the transition, concerns circulated online that Airdrie would no longer have a pound. This led to a petition titled "Prevent APARC from Closure—Airdrie’s Only Pound."

As of 8 p.m., Wednesday, the petition had 127 signatures. It was started by a resident who had adopted from APARC and wanted more clarity on the city’s plans.

The petition claimed that the decision "threatens the lives of innocent animals" and "leaves the city’s homeless animals with no place to turn to."

However, city officials confirmed that pet services are not being eliminated but are transitioning to a new model.

*ADOPTED*

Hi there!
I'm Bonnie, but you can call me your new best friend. 🐾🐶
I’m just 1 year old, and I’ve got a whole lot of love to give (and a ton of kisses to share)! I may be a little shy at first, but once I know you, I’ll warm up super fast. My favorite things? FOOD (obviously, I’ll eat anything you give me!) and cuddles! Seriously, if you’ve got a lap,I’ve got the snuggles ready.I’m still learning the ropes, so I could use a little more training (who doesn’t love a challenge, right?).
I’m pretty motivated when it comes to treats, so training is fun for me! So far I have been okay with being around the other dogs here so I think I would be able to get along with another dog at home with the proper introductions. I haven’t met any cats or kids yet, but I think I could learn to be friends with them too, if given time.If you're looking for a sweet, loving, food-obsessed cuddle buddy, I think we’d make the perfect pair! Let’s meet soon, so I can shower you with kisses and maybe even steal a snack or two! ❤️

If you are interested in taking me home, fill out an application for me and give the shelter a call at 403-768-0274 Ext.2!

I’m a happy, friendly and joyful guy who loves meeting new people and making new friends. I’m always smiling, seriously, it’s my thing, I love to show you my big smile!! I am always so happy!! I love to run around, chase after balls, and play with my squeaky toys. Treats? Yes, please! I’m pretty well-mannered, but I could use a little more house training to be my best self. I get along with other dogs in the shelter so far, but I haven’t met any cats yet.

I’d love to be part of a family who enjoys playtime and cuddles as much as I do. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and loving companion who’s always ready to make you smile, I think we’ll be a great match! I can’t wait to meet you! ❤
