🐾 Meet Skoki, a sweet Labrador with a penchant for squeaky toys! 🎾
2024 kicked off with Skoki having two surgeries to remove a toy squeaker and a mass of cherry pits and stems. Despite his owners’ diligent efforts to keep his surroundings safe, Skoki’s adventures had him vomiting two more squeakers in the autumn.
Although he appeared normal and it being days since his last vomiting and dry heaving, Skoki’s parents sensed something was amiss. X-rays initially showed a peculiar gas pattern in his colon but no obvious foreign bodies. Faced with options to either monitor or pursue diagnostics, Skoki, as if on cue, vomited in the exam room. This prompted an x-ray contrast study, which, after several hours, revealed the squeaker distinctly in his stomach. 🐕🔍
Our skilled vet induced vomiting, successfully retrieving the squeaker encased in a squirrel head toy that had been in Skoki’s stomach for weeks. This intervention, guided by the owner’s intuition and our vet’s expertise, spared Skoki a third surgery in 2024.
Here’s to many more safe and healthy adventures, Skoki! ✨💕

Franny, a sweet 1-year-old dog, came in after ingesting a baby diaper, causing her family quite a bit of worry. Our team quickly took action, inducing vomiting to safely remove the diaper pieces from her stomach. To our surprise, we also discovered a large mango pit mixed in with the vomit!
We then administered activated charcoal to absorb any toxins and prevent complications, along with anti-nausea medication to help Franny feel more comfortable. Thankfully, she’s doing great now, and her family is relieved to see her back to her happy, playful self. 🐾
These things can happen to any pet parent, especially with curious dogs—particularly during the holiday season. 🎄 If your dog eats something unusual, don’t hesitate to bring them in. Early intervention is key! ⏱️
We’re here to help when your pet needs us. 💙

🎄 A Christmas Miracle: From Lost to Loved 🎄
During our recent cold snap, a small, frightened cat was seen seeking shelter under a neighbor’s porch. With their kind permission, Dr. Kimura set a humane trap containing a tasty meal of smelly sardines and catnip. In less than an hour, she was safely caught.
She was brought to Petzoic Vet, where we called the vet clinic linked to her tattoo. She had not visited their clinic since she was spayed and declawed 10 years ago.
When they called her original owner, her former family was shocked she was alive—she had been missing for 2-3 months after escaping during a delivery to their home. She didn’t like the puppy they had gotten and preferred that we kept her, so we did.
Now, this sweet girl has a new lease on life. Blood work revealed signs of starvation and no obvious infectious viruses. With a makeover and the care she deserves, she’ll never face the cold or danger again.
Her name is Lanakila, which means “victory”—a testament to her strength and resilience in surviving outdoors without claws, braving the cold, and overcoming starvation. Her name honors the triumph of her spirit against all odds.
She now lives peacefully with 4 cats, a dog and Dr. Kimura.
🐾 If you see a stray cat, you can be the one to make a difference. If you cannot easily secure the cat, contact MEOW Foundation , Petzoic Vet , or City of Calgary – Your Local Government to rent a humane trap.
✨ In 2025, let’s all be the reason for an animal miracle.
