These Gusty babies are SO CUTE!!! And the size diversity (tiny through solid sized) is pretty fun! They are lively, a gorgeous and relatively rare orange/red and ready to give some curly coated fun. We are loving watching these guys play, explore and tackle new things!

I am SO BLESSED by the amazing local ladies who help me care for and love on the dogs every single day. We hosted a luau party at the kennel last week for an incredible young woman who has been helping at BabyBarks for over 5 years. She just graduated and is heading on to New Zealand for a year of adventure. We are going to MISS her!!! And so is sweet Gusty, who is her favourite pup! He was rocking his lei at the party!

Thank you so much for these amazing summer updates!! We LOVED seeing what your special pups are up to! We received so many fun responses that we can't wait to do a few posts highlighting your adventures. It was an extra special treat to get a picture of our retired momma dogs Bonnie and Blueberry, so if have one of their pups, you'll find their pictures here! :) Thank you for the amazing lives you give your dogs!

One of my favourite things about Bichon Shih Tzus are their range of colors and the magical transformations that can occur! Can you believe that Gusty (the darker adult dog) was once the same color we see in Pomegranate (the light gold puppy)? This rare color, "clean apricot" does the OPPOSITE transformation we see in most of our dogs.... it goes from light to DARK! We don't seen clean apricot often, so anytime I see white puppies born, I get so excited... thinking they might be holding a hidden secret and I watch for their golden highlights to be revealed. The "clean" in the "clean apricot" name Colette Francis gave them stands for the their lack of black tipping. They are one of the only colors that don't have black masks or highlights over the ears. Again, unique and so special!

Leading up to the long weekend we are going to highlight some of the sweet faces we’re enjoying here! 🥰 Little Prada is a sweet, playful and lovely boy who is working on his doggie door training, playing with his pals and practicing some seperation work. He’s doing wonderfully!

Quigley's son, Eclipse, sure looks like his Daddy! He's got that rich, deep color and that same thick pom-pom of a coat. Boy, such a handsome guy. I'm itching to keep him as a daddy dog, but I'm trying to use self control!!!
