Mezcala is adoptable and looking for her forever home ❤️

She was born April 4, 2023 in a shelter in Mexico (). She is 10 months old and getting used to being a house dog. She is still working to master her potty skills but is making great progress. Since she is still young it is best for her person to be home more often than not just until she gets adjusted to being an inside dog. She has a very goofy personality and although she has puppy energy, she also loves her sleep 😴.

Mezcala’s adoption fee is $450 and includes her transport costs, spay, and vaccinations ❤️

The relationship June and Meeka have has continued to grow and it really just confirmed my belief June needed a similar sized friend. I can tell June is so much happier to have a buddy to play with in the house and I can’t wait to get them to a bigger property. Soon June and Meeka will have everything they need ❤️

The completed family ❤️

I think I said that a few dogs ago… but I knew after having June for so long with not a single application it would be hard to have her go. June is definitely a dog that requires a specific home because if she’s not exercised or trained properly she could easily be an “aggressive” dog. Unfortunately, running this rescue showed me the side of people that can pass their dogs around like they’re nothing and the thought of that happening to June made me sick. I don’t think any dog deserves to be passed around and I definitely know if that happened to June it would have such a negative impact on her.

So because I knew I was keeping June I knew she lacked a few things. One was a bigger property and two was having a proper sized friend. So I did both of those for her. We are moving to an acreage and I brought home Meeka from Mexico when I was on vacation.

I’ve always been one to be drawn to the more timid dogs and Meeka caught my eye right away. She definitely needed a home and out of the shelter world for her to thrive and flourish. The best part of all is she is making a lot of progress already AND her and June are great buddies.

This was a perfect place to end my rescue on because quite frankly I do not need anymore dogs at this time and it was too much stress to rely on donations and reliable fosters.

I will still post on this page as we have miss Mezcala still available for adoption and I’m sure everyone will like to see the progression of Meeka/June ❤️. Plus who knows what the future will bring as I have always have such a huge passion for dogs.

Over the next week June has her spay $450 and needs to be boarded from Jan 14-17 ($185) and Jan 19-27 ($500). That’s a total of $1,135 for January expenses and we have only been able to raise $235. Luckily we had a bag of food donated for this month so that saved us an extra $110.

Can you help by donating?

I always find people feel the need to have to make big donations to make an impact but even $5 goes a long way when everyone makes those donations!

If you want to make a donation directly to our email to avoid fees you can do so by sending it to [email protected] or use the go fund me link found in the comments below!

I have created a new go fund me specifically for June. You can donate either by etransfer to [email protected] or by the go fund me link in the comments! Thank you for the support ❤️

June is still in my care and I have not been pushing donations for quite some time now. I have been absorbing the costs myself hoping June would be adopted by now. June’s food and treats costs per month are over $250 (food $120 per bag & I usually buy her no raw hide chews which can be upwards of $10 a treat). I also want to note that yes those costs could be dialed down but I value giving the best quality and care to every dog. June came from a life without love and she deserves the highest quality of care.

June is also very active and needs to run off leash. She definitely has some type of working breed in her and without her daily exercise she would not be happy. June does best in low traffic (people/dog) areas so I drive out 30 mins one way into the country to take her to a spot where I know we don’t encounter many people. The costs in gas are around $360 a month to do this (700km in a tank, 100km daily there and back, roughly $90 to fill up).

I also have travel planned which I have to pay for boarding for June. For the 2 trips booked this month, the costs just to board June will be $700.

To cover the last couple of months for June’s care and this month I would be looking to fundraise $1500 (with boarding costs). That price doesn’t even include her $500-700 spay surgery booked for Jan 11.

Right now adoptions are very slow and since June will require a more experienced home I do not know when she will find her perfect home. I’d like to keep the go fund me to $3000 to raise enough funds to cover the next few months of her care.

Please donate and share if you can ❤️. June’s profile can be viewed on our website at k9breedsrescue.ca

June wishes everyone had a great Christmas and she wanted to let everyone know she is still adoptable ❤️. She wasn’t exactly excited to get Christmas photos taken, hence the attitude on her face.

Also, I have been working very hard to continue to introduce June to new dogs without her attacking. She has been doing great and the initial introduction requires a lot less time for her to get used to the other dog now! I have also noticed that when June gets overstimulated she likes to try to nip (only strangers so far). This tends to happen when a new person walks in the door but I have been working diligently to get her to sit and focus on the treats. She is not allowed to say hi until she calms down and at that point she does great. June is in the house with 3 other small dogs that like to bark so that is a huge contributing factor to her arousal and when all the dogs calm down collectively she seems to do well.

June is still with us and has not had any luck with any applications 😢. We are hoping we can get another 2 bags ($240 worth) to last until the New Year since she has not had any interest.

I got the best action shots of June today 🤣. I have adjusted so much of my life for this girl to thrive. I always make sure we go to an area she can run off leash where no one is around. This usually leads us lost on some country road (which is quite therapeutic for the both of us 😅). June loves running free more than anything and since she can be reactive with other dogs we do need to make sure we don’t encounter anyone.

Enjoy the pictures of this goofy girl ❤️

June is still looking for her forever home. Can you help share this post so she can find herself her forever family before the new year?

About June:

June is a young active girl that prefers daily activity and mental stimulation. June will let you know if she’s bored by whining until you’re either convinced to take her out or so annoyed at her whining that you take her out. Somehow it always ends up in her favour.

June can get over stimulated in exciting/stressful situations which can cause her to nip out of excitement. We have only noticed this a few times and have found a way to redirect this behavior. For example, when a stranger comes over we have all the dogs stay in a gated area. We then get them all to sit and reward them with treats. This has been the best way for June to meet a new person and it has never failed.

Due to June’s past she can feel the need to be on guard and protect herself from other dogs. In order to teach June that other dogs are okay she is given a long enough introduction to watch and feel out the other dog’s behaviour. Once she realizes they are a friend she is so excited to be able to play with them. For this reason, we don’t want June to go to a home where they will avoid other dogs because it requires work. June should go to a home where she is continued to show the world isn’t so scary so that June continues to grow into a confident dog.

Remember June came from a past of living out in the elements and having to hunt for her food. She also was a mother and had babies to protect (that were also taken away from her). That’s a whole lot of unfortunate events that June needs to realize her new life does not entail mean people.

We would like June to go to a home that has no young kids or cats. June could benefit from having a dog friend to play with but if her human is around more than not she would be ok as an only dog.

Help us share June’s post around ❤️

WE NEED SUPPLIES!

We are nearly out of dog food and June being the picky eater that she is requires a more expensive food ($110 for a 25lb bag). That typically will last us just over a month for June so we could definitely use a bag or two.

Can we raise $110 today to get June more food?

We also would like to continue to put June in obedience and protection classes which is $125 a session. This will help build her confidence as she does have a lot of fear based behaviors.

We also haven’t even made up the remaining $1000 on Zoose’s kennel bill and could really use the support with that.

Please donate if you can ❤️

June is still and looking for her forever home.

PERSONALITY- June is a very goofy and loving girl that loves to be cuddled up to her human. She is a very needy girl and prefers to be near her human.

LIKES- sleeping in bed under the covers cuddled up to her human 🥰, going on adventures, swimming- this girl needs a home that will let her go swimming often. Be prepared to be entertained by her frolicking across the water and scuba diving 🤿.

DISLIKES- certain strange people- she has growled at a few people on walks and it seems to be men wearing hoods or bulkier clothing.

KIDS? We say 12+ because of June’s background and we always prefer to be safe!

DOGS? June prefers a slow introduction to new dogs. She feels the need to defend and protect herself, which is due to her past. She has come a long way with this and the last dog we introduced her to was as smooth as it could have been. We do know June loves having someone to play with and would do best with another dog around her size that is just as playful. We hope her new home will continue to work on her being around other dogs so she continues to learn she does not have to be on guard! This will help June improve her confidence.

CATS? Unsure. June has walked by a cat and seemed to be very excited. At this time we cannot say how she would do living with any and would need to be trialed with our trainer!

If you’re interested in adopting June please fill out our adoption application on our website. Please note- only approved applicants will be able to meet her.

Rachael the dog whisperer (aka ) was able to work her magic and actually get some good close ups of June. If you’ve been following us for a while you would know the only pictures we can get of June is a side profile and her rolling her eyes at me 😂. She is not one that enjoys posing for the camera but these pictures may tell you otherwise.

June also has a reduced adoption fee of $550 (it’s a little higher than Briar’s as June required a lot more vet work).

Make sure to read her bio on k9breedsrescue.ca before applying ❤️. Help us share this post in hopes we can find her forever home☺️

Briar is still . If you’re looking for a dog to make you feel loved that would be Briar. She loves to give you her paw and wiggle her butt everytime you walk through the door.

Briar would love another playful dog friend and a home with a large sized yard. Briar would do best in a quiet neighbourhood or an acreage outside of the city.

Briar came to us very timid but has made excellent progress. We have realized Briar is best to go to a no kid family as she doesn’t seem to be too fond of kids (especially when they cry).

Briar would do best with a quiet household and not one where people are always coming and going. She also loves to get the opportunity to go squirrel/rabbit hunting. She loves to run and can run for hours but is always very calm in the house.

Fill out our adoption application online if you’re interested in meeting Briar. Don’t forget to share to help Briar find her forever home ❤️.

Transformation Thursday of adoptable June.

June had come to us with such a sad story. We had no fosters at the time but we were alerted about a dog that was finally trapped. No rescues could step up because we are all full/ over capacity/out of funds. I knew I couldn’t just let this dog be released back into the wild. So I said yes.

June cried and cried for the first couple days. She would whine 24/7 and just pace back and forth. She would try to bolt out of the door so I knew we had to keep her with us. We didn’t want to risk anyone losing her.

It was evident she was not well taken care of and I highly suspect she was dumped after nursing her babies. It seemed she always was looking for something.

Based on June’s behaviour now you can tell she had to protect herself, which is why she can come off very aggressive to other dogs. She is still learning she doesn’t need to be on protect mode anymore.

I know she isn’t aggressive and rather is protective because she does love other dogs. Once we do a proper introduction it doesn’t take her long to start to play with the other dog and have her goofy personality come out.

June is sweet, loving and so loyal. She is an absolute goofball that will keep you entertained by watching her play with toys, play in the water and do zoomies in an open area.

June will require a human with a bit more experience since she has that protective side to her. She needs someone to guide her and show her the ropes. She needs to be reminded that she has you to keep her safe and protected ❤️.

Zoose is out of financial resources and that means we are nearly out of time. I need your help to find Zoose a foster to adopt home. Surely there is someone out there that is looking for a lovable, protective dog 🥺.

We are over $2000 for his kennel bill and we need donations more than ever. With no donations we cannot keep paying for him to stay at the kennel. Please donate if you can.

About Zoose⬇️
Zoose is a 4 year old husky mix. He prefers a home where he can be the only dog and get all the attention. He is an active dog but not overly active. He would also do best with older kids as he likes to jump up and we suspect he has a herding breed in him. He is so lovable and will make you feel safe.

We need to raise at least another $1000 this week in order to continue to help Zoose. I have put so much time and money into Zoose and it has been exhausting.

I never thought I would have to consider another option for Zoose but unfortunately if we do not have the funds we cannot continue to house him. I have put so much of my time and money into Zoose and I am asking for your help so we don’t have to give up on him.

Please share this post so we can continue to house Zoose. He deserves to be given a chance. Our kennel bill is now exceeding $1200 and we have only fundraised $500.

FOSTERS WE NEED YOU. Can you foster any of the 4 dogs? Fosters always get priority when it comes to adopting.

1. Male Pyrenees/ Bernese puppy (DOB April 8/23)

2. Male Pyrenees/ Bernese puppy (DOB April 8/23)

3. No name- Male Pointer mix (black dog) (DOB 2022)

4. Zoose- husky/heeler mix. Needs an active home. Ideally no other dogs as he is protective. He has done great with other dogs in the past but once he moved foster homes it is apparent he has issues with them.

We are also needing to raise money towards Zoose’s care and for all the animals we saved from the auction. I have both go fund me’s in my bio and please donate if you can!

08/03/2023

We are in urgent need of xpens, litterboxes and a cage. We have saved 9 rabbits, 2 ferrets, 4 cats, 1 dog, 2 hamsters and a gecko from being destroyed. All these animals were left with no bids and we couldn’t sit back and watch them suffer.

We will have more to update on this auction and how we are trying to put a stop to it in the upcoming months but for now we are staying quiet until we can obtain more information.

I have opened a go fund me specific for these auction animals as they will all need to be fixed and have items bought if we cannot find anyone to donate the posted items. Every rabbit will need to be fixed and this is going to cost between $275-$375 depending on the gender. That’s roughly $4600 for all 9 rabbits. We may have “won” these animals for $2 but it is not as simple as $2 and to rehome them. All animals must be fixed or we will not be helping reduce overbreeding.

We could not have done this by ourselves and we are thankful to have had other rescues step up to help save these animals!

I have linked a go fund me on our Instagram profile.

Zoose has been at the kennel for 10 days now and we still cannot find an appropriate foster for him. We are close to a $500 kennel bill now 😭

We are in a tough spot financially because Zoose has no foster for him. He requires a no dog home while we work through some training but this is difficult to find. This has ended up with us kenneling him and having to pay this bill.

We have already been taking such a hit with the rescue. We have no idea how long Zoose’s stay will end up being.

In hopes of fundraising the full $2000 it would help us donate whatever is left over (after paying his kennel bill) to transfer him to another rescue. We do have a few rescues in mind that we would like him to go to but they are out of funds. If we can pledge money for Zoose then we can donate to the other rescue that takes him in.

If we cannot find a suitable option once this has been explored/ money fundraised we will look to have someone pay to board him in their house. This would be a more expensive option that could easily exceed the $2000 limit depending how long it takes Zoose to get adopted. If we do this we will get a chance to know his personality better and get to showcase him off a lot better.

Please help us donate if you can 🩵
