If you haven't seen our new additions, now's the time! Our new seahorse tank is starting to fill up – even though we're still awaiting the seahorses. Right now, we have one Dragonface Pipefish and two Bluestripe Pipefish gliding through the tank.
Did you know Pipefish are the closest relatives to seahorses? The Dragonface Pipefish is especially fascinating with its snake-like movement, sliding over substrate and live rock, and even using its tail to loosely anchor itself to corals or rocks. But it’s best suited for expert aquarists due to its specialized diet of live copepods.
This social species thrives best in groups or mated pairs within a peaceful aquarium environment of 50 gallons or more. They do well with shy, gentle tank mates like gobies, seahorses, and firefish. However, they should be kept away from aggressive fish, large clams, or corals with strong stinging tentacles.
Stop by to see these graceful creatures in action and learn more about them!
