We will be closed this upcoming Saturday and Monday for the long weekend, and our regular Veterinarian will be away for vacation next week. We will have a wonderful locum vet next Thursday if you need to be seen!
If you have any concerns that need to be addressed, our reception team will be here next week for food purchases, picking up prescriptions, booking appointments , etcetera.

Such a beautiful day out, so here are some good guidelines for beating the heat! 😁☀️☀️

- Never leave pets in hot cars
- Provide access to shade and water
- Take walks during cooler hours to avoid pavement burns
- Keep an eye out for excessive panting and signs of distress

With the recent surge of wildfires, we wanted to offer pet parents some tips on keeping your greatest companions healthy in smoky conditions.

Just like humans, animals need to ensure their exposure to wildfire smoke is kept at a minimum. During times of increased smoke, we should try to limit our pets' outdoor time to just bathroom breaks. Even the fittest of animals can quickly get into trouble if a walk lasts more than 10-15 minutes with the present air quality. Cats that go outdoors normally should also have minimized outdoor time for the same reasons that dogs do.

Please pay special attention to your dog if they have brachycephalic (the adorable pushed in) noses, as they already have known airway issues.

Cant catch ‘em all…😁

Some cats are a little bit less smart, but we love them all the same! Featuring Maya, who thinks her nail got stuck and she has no way to escape.... the tragedy of the situation is even worse because she sees the food right there, in a bowl on the floor.

**WARNING** Graphic content, not for the squeamish at heart... Here we have a microscope slide showing an ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) and eggs found in a 3 month old kittens ear. Ear mites are still a common issue for cats, especially one's who venture outdoors. If you notice your cat or kitten excessively shaking or scratching it's ear's this could be the issue and it's best to contact your vet for treatment options. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 403-271-1121.

A pretty adorable start to the morning! These chicks were brought in after their nest was found in a dryer vent! They happily gobbled up some breakfast before the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation came to pick them up.
