🌸 Easter has just passed and Mother’s Day is around the corner—which means lilies are everywhere! While these flowers are beautiful, many types of lilies are extremely toxic to cats, even in small amounts or just from licking pollen off their fur.

Easter Lilies, Tiger Lilies, and Stargazer Lilies are especially dangerous and can cause acute kidney failure.

If you’re sending or receiving bouquets this season, please double-check the flower types and keep your feline friends safe!

❤️ Understanding the Heartworm Lifecycle ❤️

Heartworm disease starts when a mosquito bites an infected wild or domestic animal and picks up microfilaria. Inside the mosquito, the microfilaria develop into larvae over about the course of two weeks. When that mosquito bites another animal—like your pet—it transfers the larvae through the bite.

It takes around 6 months for the larvae to grow into adult heartworms, which can live 5–7 years in dogs and 2–3 years in cats. With each mosquito season, the number of worms in an infected pet can grow due to their longevity!
