We are on our way to Martintown Animal Hospital with Calum. He’s not doing well. He crashed overnight and has been crying all day. I have done all I can for him. I don’t want him to suffer anymore. I love him too much to do that to him.
R.I.P. Calum. I love you.

Good Evening Calum lovers!!!

Yesterday I started administering subcutaneous saline solution to help Calum with the dehydration. It gave him a little more energy and he ate a tiny bit for the first time in a week in his own. We have been syringe feeding him human baby chicken and rice with a little laxative, taurine and cranberry extract, every 2 hours. But last night he had a few bites of his hard food. We have also been diligently feeding him 5ml of liver juice (Recipe given to me by a Hawaiian holistic vet), every 4 hours around the clock.

Tonight Calum made his first p**p in 8 days!!! I bet you never thought you’d get excited about seeing a p**p, did you?? 💩 💩 😂😂

He has a tiny bit more energy, but he’s not out of the woods yet. Thursday evening he will be back to see Dr Ian for a follow up and to check his urine and liver enzymes.

Thank you for all your prayers. Keep them coming!!

Calum had an emergency visit to Dr Ian yesterday. He has a liver infection, causing his liver enzymes to go way up. He is lethargic and won’t eat. His belly is swollen and he’s quite uncomfortable. Today I will get all the ingredients for a special diet to ease the strain on his liver.
Please say a prayer for him so I can get him better.

Dr Ian loved me today at Martintown Animal Hospital!! He said I need to get a cart, even though he’s never seen a cat using a cart! He even tried to put my diapee back on, but he forgot where my legs go! Mummy had to help him!! Dr Ian said that I can live a happy and good quality life with the right caregiver who will feed me like mummy does! Mummy’s food is so yummy!!

I’m 2 months and 3 weeks old, and I weigh 2.5 pounds! I still wear preemie diapers and onesies, but they were very big on me when I came to live at Heidi’s Kitty Haven!

I’m growing up to be a very playful and happy kitty; I just don’t appreciate when Mica ruins my fun by smacking me!

I am Prince Calum!

I have my mummy so wrapped around my paws, that I can do no wrong; except perhaps p**p on her bed 2 days in a row. It is pretty funny to watch her have to wash everything all the time. It’s even funnier to listen to her lecture me about talking my diapees off while she’s at work. Apparently I’m not supposed to do that. But my bum needs a diapee break! 😸😸 My mummy doesn’t stay angry for long because I give her my sweet innocent face and then she tells me I melt her heart! 💗💗 I love my mummy too.

$600/$1000

Hi everybody!

Here is an update on our little Calum.

Yesterday the vet told me that Calum has severe deformity in his lower spine, back legs and bowels. She said that the upper half of his body is very healthy, and that he’s in no pain. She tells me I shouldn’t try to find a home for him because the chances of finding somebody as attentive as I am with my kitties is very slim to none. She said he could potentially suffer in his future if he’s not cared for properly.

👉🏼Yes, Calum is just a cat....

👉🏼Yes, I believe Calum has the right to live just as any other being on this planet...

👉🏼Yes, he can have a wonderful and healthy life with the right people.

👉🏼Yes, as long as Calum is healthy and not suffering, I will help him.

👉🏼NO, euthanasia is not always the answer. Often, it is the easy way out.

Watch this video I made this morning to see what a happy, playful and healthy kitten he is.

We still need to raise enough funds to take Calum to an Veterinary Orthopedic Surgeon in Ottawa. We are currently on a waiting list to get him in.
So far we have spent $225 for x-rays, $70 for consultation fee and $130 for blood tests.
We have raised $465, which leaves us with $40 for the Orthopedic Surgeon. We are still only looking to raise $1000 for now.

Introducing my foster kitties.
Betty and her bunch Whisper, Clubber, and Apollo as well as Lucy and her boy Draggo.

These loveable, playful black beauties are looking for their forever homes. They came to me a few weeks ago from a hoarding home. A few more kitties than expected (Lucy, Draggo, and Spark) including an extra kitten (Apollo) who is not believed to be one of Bettys original litter. This did not matter to Betty as she has cared for him since they arrived and he has become part of her bunch. ❤️ Originally I was only expecting Betty and 3 kittens. Do to the situation in the hoarding home Lucy’s babies were born while plans were being made. They were a welcome surprise.

Although these mama’s have been amazing caring for their little ones, unfortunately they each lost a kitten a day apart. Draggo’s only sibling Spark and Rocky the first named and the inspiration for the boys “Rocky” themed names. Rocky was Apollo’s best buddy and things did not look good for Apollo when we first lost Rocky. I feared he wouldn’t survive, but Betty wasn’t going to let that happen. She began encouraging him to eat and play with the others, and he continues to get stronger every day.

They are sweet, playful and make me laugh often. They may all look the same however each one is very special and unique. I promise they will melt your heart. It is time for them to begin the next part of their journey with their forever families.

I will include more information about each of these cuties on the photos I post.

Videos of them at play and baby albums of each kitten to come!

Heidi’s Kitty Haven is a kitten rescue founded in August 2014. We specialize in orphaned or abandoned kittens. We accept kittens up to 6 months old.

Because most of the kitties roam free in the rescue, we are unable to take feral cats or older cats.

We haven taken in healthy and sick kittens, injured kittens, and kittens with certain disabilities.

We are located in Cardinal, Ontario; 1 hour south of Ottawa, 1.25 hours east of Kingston, 1.75 hours west of Montreal, 45 minutes west of Cornwall, and 15 minutes from the Ogdensburg, NY border crossing to the USA.

Kitties adopted from Heidi’s Kitty Haven tend to be very friendly. They come spayed or neutered, up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, dewormed, treated for fleas and mites and microchipped.

We highly recommend adopting kittens under 6 month old in twos. Young kittens may become bored easily and become destructive or terrorize your older cats. When they are adopted in pairs, they keep each other company and stay out of trouble and leave your older cats in peace. Besides, it’s very amusing to watch a pair of kittens play together.

Most of the kitties coming into the rescue have or have had upper respiratory infections because they are all rescues from outdoors or hoarding situations. An upper respiratory infection can be caused by the herpes virus or calici virus, both of which remain dormant in their systems unless their are times of stress; a new baby, a new cat, a move, owner leaving for longer periods of time or even loneliness. Both viruses are very contagious to other cats. When adopting a kitten, either through a shelter, breeder, friend or kijiji, it is very highly recommended to have your existing cats vaccinated yearly.
