I started Cattus Toys in 2018 and the lama and cactus were my first two designs. Can't believe it's been 6 years of making cat toys! They've all had a few makeovers over the few years but these original designs are very dear to me.

Alfred The Alpaca ~ one of my first ever designs just got a makeover 》Swipe to see original!
I'm so happy Alfred is back. The original was inspired by a wedding gift that Pickles was always trying to steal. It was a small alpaca doll made from real alpaca wool. It didn't matter where we put it in the house she was always finding a way to get it. Eventually, it was renamed, Alfred The one eyed alpaca... then Eventually Alfred the one eyed one eared alpaca ... and then Eventually we just threw him out. It was both comical and 😑 to come home and find Alfred in the middle of the room, more mangled each time.

Is your cat a little chonk? Thinking of getting more exercise? Follow these easy steps to get the most out of your next play session!
1. Choose the right time
> Cats are crepuscular animals and most active during dawn and dusk. This is the best time to schedule play as they will be most interested
> You can also schedule play around meals to enrich the experience
2. Keep play sessions short
> Play sessions only need to last about 10-15mi.
> Have at least 2 play sessions a day for adult cats and up to 10 for kittens!
3. Know your cats signals
> Shows no interest in toys? Your cat might be bored. Try a different toy or a different time!
> Eager to play? This is a great time to have a positive play session.
> Panting or breathing heavily? Give your kitty a rest and remember playtime should be a positive experience!
4. Reward good play
> After a good positive play session, reward your kitty with a healthy treat!
> This could be meal time
> Cat Grass
> Catnip
> Cuddles
> or some other healthy option!
Hope these tips can enrich your cat's play time and lead to more exercise!

The inspiration behind our new bird wand? Cat’s like Birds… That’s pretty much it!
Hit the notification bell and tune in Wednesday at 3pm (AST) as I make a bird Teaser!
Over the last few years running my etsy shop, I noticed a trend. The designs that sell the best are always the most literal ideas. Cats like fish, our goldfish toy is our most popular design, not only that, the orange one sells the best. Our sardine toy (comes in orange but) the grey sardine sells the best. Cats like to chase mice, no surprise our mouse toy sells very well, specifically the grey mouse! Then I was thinking, what else do cats like? They life to watch birds, so I set off to design a real to life bird toy. Guess what? Pickles and every one seems to love it and it’s flying of the shelves (pun intended, sorry)!

Does your cat get a little too aggressive during play? We are here to help with these 4 pawsitive tips!
Cats can easily develop some bad play habits. Here are some ways to avoid them and develop some healthy play routines.
(1) Hands Are Not Toys
While this can be cute when they are kittens, those nails can be pretty sharp when they grow up!
> Discourage you cat from playing with your hands or feet
> Immediately disengage this type of play
> Redirect their attention to a toy instead
(2)Redirect Aggression
Cats have a lot of energy and need an outlet. Make sure to train your cat to direct it’s aggression on something more appropriate then your hands and feet (ouch!)
> Dangle, drag or throw a toy to redirect their attention and aggression to an appropriate object
(3)Stop & Leave the Room
If attempts to redirect your cats aggression to a toy fail. Then simply stop playtime and leave the room.
> be consistent
> be patient
(4) Never Physically Punish
Cats do not learn through this type of punishment, rather you may teach your cat to fear you instead.
> positive reinforcement is key
> reward good playtime with treats
Healthy play routines are an important step in keeping your cat healthy! Bookmark this for reference and happy play everypawdy!

What inspires you? For me it's definitely my cat Pickles, cartoons and nature. I often see life as a comic strip and apparently that translates really well into cat toys!
Special thanks to for all these meet the maker prompts and for organizing last weeks Etsy Atlantic Market!

Want to know more about the Maker behind Cattus Toys?
Hi Everypawdy! My name is Jackie and I am the maker behind Cattus Toys. I currently live in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I am originally from Montreal but I met my husband Matthew and moved here in 2014 to get married! Did you know Pickles was my wedding gift from Matthew? Years later and I am still squealing "BEST GIFT EVER!", how could I not? Her face is so squishy and her paws are so fluffy. Well now you know a little more about me. Follow along this month as I try my hardest to meet all the prompts.
Where are you from?

Tag a Siamese cat that's Pawesome!
💫Pawsome Pets: The Siamese
------------
Origins
------------
Let’s travel back in time to the beautiful Kingdom of Siam, where this legendary temple cat is found. Valued for its exquisite beauty, intelligence and agility. Perched upon tall columns around a throne, guarding the King of Siam himself. You can find illustrations of white cats with black legs, tails and ear in an acient book of poems called the "Tamra Maew". The Siamese is one of the oldest breeds of domestic cats and is considered a natural breed.
---------------------
Purrrsonality
---------------------
The Siamese is a chatty, intelligent and playful breed. This active and social cat is a great choice for families with children and/or friendly dogs. If treated with respect they will love the attention from children and can even learn tricks! These are very sociable cats, they love to chat, follow you around the house, supervise the going-ons of the family, lay in your lap and sleep in your bed at night. They are highly intelligent, agile and athletic and require a lot of exercise and play time. Keep lots of toys around the house and make sure to keep play time interactive with teaser toys, toys they can fetch and puzzles. Siamese are also great jumpers and climbers so investing in a cat tree is definitely a must! The Siamese is extremely affectionate and requires a dedicated family to spend time with it and play. If neglected, boredom will set in and they will start seeking out trouble.
--------
Care
--------
Caring for your Siamese is simple. Weekly brushing and regular teeth cleaning is best and seeing as they associate brushing with affection, grooming will be an easy task.
