The story of my first dog (as an adult) is somewhat of a ridiculous tale. The long and the short of it is that from the first day I met her both my then boyfriend (now husband) knew she was meant to be ours. We were unable to bring her home due to the litter getting Parvo. She survived. We then snuck her into our non-pet -friendly apartment, moved to Calgary to find out that our landlord decided he suddenly didn't want dogs in the house, to moving in with my in-laws into the unfinished basement, then into a run down old home in downtown Calgary, where we stayed until we could afford to buy a home of our own. There was countless times that I was told it would be easier to rehome her, and I refused to give her up. Mikka has been by my side through some of my hardest moments, and shared in some of my most happy memories. She has been there through big job changes, marriage, kids, broken bones and illnesses. When I fell into a deep depression, she was one of the few things that kept me going, and has always been the one thing I can count on. She is the reason I got out of bed many mornings, and forced myself to go outside. She challenged me in ways I cannot count, and made me laugh and smile in spite of her naughty behaviours. She chewed holes in drywall, ran through screen doors, and gotten me lost in Nose hill park on more then one occasion. But through it all she was there to help me find myself, learn what it means to stand for what I believe in and find the strength to keep going. For that I will be forever grateful. She is the reason I became the dog trainer I am, and the reason I will forge forward to help other dogs become the best version of themselves they can be. She is the dog that showed me who I am down to my core, and helped me find peace within my heart. Mikka has been with me through it all and I couldn't ask for a better dog. - Elysia

Let's talk about Aggression.😡 Did you know over 80% of cases of Aggression have a underlying medical issue? Most cases of Aggressive dogs we see are showing aggression from a place of FEAR, insecurity or pain. 🤯It is not a show of "Dominance" it is not them "Testing" you. True aggression, as in the intent to do harm to another dog or human is extremely rare. When your Dog is suddenly showing aggression, it may be a time for a trip to the vet. ⚕If nothing comes up there, then you should reach out to someone who specializes in working with aggression.🧐 Like our very own Elysia.

Did you know Day Training can make your life easier, and increase the success rate of your dog becoming a well mannered? This model is great because not only will your dog learn from the pro's you will too, without having to do the heavy lifting on the actual training. It is better then board in trains, in that not only you do not have to send your dog away, but they will be learning in the environment they are expected to behave in which means an higher likelihood of success for you and your dog!
