Anyone else noticed an increase in pet care cost? I certainly have!! A surgery performed on a friends 120lb dog in 2021 cost $5000.
Another friend was quoted yesterday $10,000 for a very similar surgery on their 15 lb cat

Anyone notice price increase for your pet care? I know I am blown away by the prices I have been hearing about.
A person I know had a surgery on their 120lbs dog that cost $5000 in 2021, another friend had a very similar surgery on their 15lb cat that is now $10,000. Read below to find out more,

After a bad year for kennel cough, there are other reasons your pup might have a lingering cough that doesn’t seem to clear up. Lung worm is a common parasite found primarily in coyotes throughout Nova Scotia but has also been detected in other areas of Atlantic Canada. It is treatable fortunately!!!

Happy New Year✨✨✨, I hope it’s been a happy and healthy one so far.
With the current rise in cases and high transmission I will be limiting clients in the shop and if possible, just bring the pups to the shop door.
Hopefully this will only be for a few weeks until our numbers slow down.
I can also come get the pups from the car if that is preferred.

It has been an up and down week but I have re-opened.

I did make a few changes , I will post it below

Mask wearing required according to covid protection protocol.

I will be making changes to limit contact during this time. Unfortunately I am restricting clients from entering the shop. I can either go to your vehicle or just knock on the shop door . If there is someone at the door, please wait until it’s clear in order to maintain social distancing .

Also please make sure the pet/ pets have had time to fully eliminate before they arrive to the shop.

If you or anyone in your household are experiencing cold/flue like symptoms, or have anyone in the household required to isolate, please reschedule for another time.

If there are any special instructions or health issues, please advise me via the phone or text prior to the appointment.
This will take extra time but I do appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
Stay safe!!!!

Due to the increasing numbers of covid, I am afraid I will be closing again until further notice
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope everyone is doing the best they can during this time and staying safe. With our increasing vaccinations , I am very hopeful our lock down will have success in decreasing numbers sooner than later.

After receiving clarification on operating a pet service business during this time , I will be reopening as of this Friday.
Following the Health department rules during this pandemic, I will be reopening with the following in place:

Any appointments being made, have to include a bath prior to any groom procedures being done, including nail trims.

Mask wearing required according to covid protection protocol.

I’m sorry to say I will be closed for a few days due to the covid announcement this afternoon .
I am waiting for more information from the NS business department to see if I can continue with curbside pick up option in place. That would mean no clients in the shop unfortunately.
I will be posting further information soon. I do apologize in advance for any inconvenience .
Please stay safe everyone!!!

Update with todays announcements.

I am open for business and operating as usual with no effect to current appointments.
Unfortunately I am restricting anyone entering the shop, when you arrive you can come to the shop door and I will take the pup from there or I can come to your vehicle. Masks must be worn either way for drop off or pick up at any given time in respect to COVID protocol.

Please be patient as we work through this time together

So far it’s not too snowy but it’s coming. Just thought if anyone is looking for a puppy snowsuit, this one is pretty good, by foufoudog .It’s 20%off in store at Global Pet Foods right now.
It may not be completely waterproof in the snow but will offer more snowball protection. Read the customer reviews to get an idea of how others felt about it. I like the adjustable straps and Velcro tabs, and especially the reflective strips for evening walks.
I do recommend taking your pup in to the store to try it on for a proper fit after my online order didn’t work with my measurements on another brand.
It’s good for all seasons and can be worn with a warm coat for cold weather or rain coat for milder days .

Just a reminder on hot days to not leave pets in the car or anywhere unsafe and ensure they have access to water

04/11/2020

Following the Health department rules during this pandemic, I will be reopening with the following changes put in place:

Any appointments being made, have to include a bath prior to any groom procedures being done, including nail trims.

I will be wearing a mask coming to the car and during the whole grooming day. With the fur flying around in the shop, it’s easy for me to cough or sneeze. The mask isn’t for any health issues, just protection with the ongoing health measures

With the covid-19 prevention in mind. I will be making changes to limit contact during this time. Unfortunately I am restricting clients from entering the shop.

When you arrive for your appointment please text me. I will come to your vehicle to get your dog and will be using my own leash to walk him to the shop so please make sure they have a fitted collar on and it’s not loose. I don’t want any pets slipping out of the collar and running .
When they are done, I will bring them back to your vehicle again when you text upon arrival.

Also please make sure they have had time to fully eliminate before they arrive.

Please take note I am accepting etransfers for payments, and I can give you the email address for payments.

If you or anyone in your household are experiencing cold/flue like symptoms, or have travelled within the past two weeks, please reschedule for another time.

If there are any special instructions or health issues, please advise me via the phone or text prior to the appointment.
This will take extra time but I do appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

During the closure , I thought I would post a video on nail clipping. Please remember it may not be an easy job to do if the dog is unwilling so get a couple of nails clipped at a time rather than fighting through getting them all done at once . Some of us have more time now and can stretch out clipping nails a few or even just one nail over a couple hours or even days. It depends on how much struggle there is and may be less stressful for both of you that way. Have their favourite treats on hand 👍 Also, if you continue to do it on a regular basis , they will relax more after some time making it easier .

I’m very sorry to say, but with today’s announcement I will be closed. I will try to get clarification on if the measures I put in place will allow me to open but I’m not sure who to contact yet or how long it will take to get an answer.
I do hope that everyone is doing as well as can be expected during these extremely difficult times and I am hoping to be able to see all of you very soon!! Please take care of yourselves!!!

Looking to adopt a new fur baby??check out
Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic

After having a few pups come in from the Dominican Republic who were just wonderful sweeties I thought I would post an adoption website from there. I had visited a resort and there certainly were quite a few stray pups needing homes. The adoption process is outlined on the site and the adoption fee is less than $400 Cdn which includes their flight according to its web page .
So if you are looking at growing your family, look at these sweeties . They are also looking for travelling companions for pups being fostered in Canada so if you heading down south, give them a call.

Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic DCDR is a Dominican Republic Animal Rescue that spays and neuters, adopts, fosters, educates, provides emergency care.
