Located in Old Strathcona, Edmonton, Alberta. Askembla Sewing, paints and crafts is founded and run by a Norwegian living life in Canada. While growing up in Norway I very often would loose myself in dreams about Trolls, Huldra, the underground people, Husnisser, elves, Noekken, and other beliefs and superstitions that Norway is bathed in. I would ride around in the mountains on horses, around lak

es and into valleys. I would go on adventures with my dog along the coast and the forest. I would loose myself in the dark ambiance of St. Bathe in mountain lakes under the moon. There is nothing more beautiful than a walk or ride in the forest up in the mountains on a moonlit night. Moments like mentioned above are what I draw my inspiration from. There is too much I want to do to focus solely on on thing!

🌸It has a tie at the black to give some shape and has an ankle length skirt.
🌸I made a cool hair accessory to go with it. Which is hanging from the tie in the picture.

A funny story from a customer which bought a Spanish copy of my book. Her Mother was reading the book to her granddaughter who thought Trollgirl was Caperucita Roja (Red Riding Hood) mistaking her redhair for a red hood. She was mad and didn't want to finish the story!

This is proof that companies that are still saying they "recycle" ethically actually don't! Lets be careful what we buy this holiday season. Maybe less with the goods and more with the services? How about some mending coupons? Gift certificate to a tailor? or just plain make it yourself. Its not too late.

"-And now for something completely different!"

I'm pleased to share my first book in a series called Trollgirl.

It is a highly visual story told through the eyes of a growing child who is part troll! Only she can see her tail, but it represents how different she is from her peers.

It is a story from the perspective of the girl who made herself invisible to get through school. How she was shaped into her human shadow but thriving in her trollform, her natural form.

This book will resonate with all those who felt like they didn't belong, didn't fit in or wasn't a "cookie cut" human.

All the text and a illustrations are done by me, Jannicke Ask and the book is avaliable through Amazon as well as through me if you happen to be in Edmonton!

The Dene lady that wanted this custom made is an artist, beadworker, and healer. She is also a performer who travels all over for her work. She has even been to Norway! :D
