Biosecurity Tips for Horse Shows 🐴🔍
Your horse’s health is the top priority during competitions. 🏆 While we can’t eliminate all disease threats, following core biosecurity principles significantly reduces the risk of introducing and spreading illnesses. Here’s what you and competition management should focus on:
1. Limit Contact: Minimize horse interactions with other animals, humans, and shared equipment.
2. Clean and Disinfect: Regularly sanitize equipment to prevent disease transmission.
3. Isolate Sick Horses: If a horse shows signs of illness, promptly isolate and seek veterinary evaluation.

Remember, a healthy horse is a winning horse!

Performing routine preventative care is an important part of your horse’s wellbeing and care. Call us at 519-855-9983 if you have any questions or are interested in booking your next appointment.

Last week we had to say goodbye to our beloved Rosie 🌹

Rosie was a talented show horse before she eventually settled down with us and had many beautiful foals. She was a pleasure to have around and a beauty to boot!

She will be dearly missed by many, rest in peace Rosedale ♥️

Cool case alert!! 🚨🚨🚨This crafty guy got his foot caught in a fence and was seen by Dr.Emily on emergency for a hood wall avulsion. Dr Emily placed a bandage and started him on some medications to prevent infection and for pain control. The horse’s owner and farrier Kevin Kleinpaste stepped in did the rest! It truly takes a village and this is a wonderful case that shows that! A dedicated owner, willing horse, talented farrier and a great veterinarian made this transformation possible! .dermott
