We had a blast celebrating with you at our summer fundraiser two weekends ago✨ Thank you for coming out to support us & for helping us to raise $16,300.75 for homeless dogs in need 🤩 We couldn’t have done it without , who sold the most amount of raffle tickets on the team & grand prize raffle winner Sunny, who donated $2,000 back to HMR, helping us to hit our fundraising goal this year (which was to double last year’s total of $7,349.30) 🐾

On July 19, we made a post asking for your help. Yesterday was such a surreal moment because it was exactly a week later that we were able to accept these dogs into care thanks to all the people who messaged us offering to open up their homes to help us help them.

HOW is this guy not adopted yet?! He’s an absolute gem 💎
Greg had a rough start (see the first picture of his Instagram highlight) and isn’t sure what life is all about or why we keep dressing him up in gear and taking photos of him. So watching Greg come out of his shell in his foster home with .asselstine & is especially heartwarming to see. It may take a little while to learn what this guy likes and dislikes, because he doesn’t show a lot of who he is just yet (it’s a secret and we can’t wait to find out) but we KNOW he likes dogs and we KNOW he likes water. He also has a favorite Moose toy 🫎 now, which is kind of a big deal. He nibbles on it from time to time. He’s the sweetest boy and deserves the world. As I’m writing this, I’m wondering why I can’t have three dogs because lots of people do. But .staples.9 would kill me and I need to keep my home open for homeless dogs to come. All I can say is that I’ve met a lot of dogs, and this one is pretty special.
While this may seem counter intuitive given Greg’s current demeanour, we are looking for an active home who likes adventures - it might take Greg a minute to get on board but once he’s moving, that’s when we see him enjoying life most. And we want him to see and experience all that life has to offer. We don’t often say this because we believe that each home is unique & can offer different things but in this case we are looking for a home with another dog so Greg can talk dog with them & learn how to dog 🐶

I’m working on my leash manners because I sometimes get confused when meeting other dogs while on a walk. But don’t worry, my foster has seen great progress and is happy with how eager I am to learn and look for direction when I’m unsure of a situation. 🎓🐕

Hello humans, 👋🏼 �My name is Mira and I’m here to tell you why I’d make the best companion for you! Apart from being super sweet and adorable, I have a passion for learning and understanding my people.
I currently have a few tricks down - I’ve mastered sitting and lying down, and just learned paw! Lucky for you, my food drive is on the higher side, so our training sessions shouldn’t be too tricky. I have a tendency to pull on my leash or bark when I’m out socializing in new environments but if you help me focus, I promise I’ll respond and settle down. As for my crate training, I’ve learned to associate it with my safe space and have no trouble sleeping through the night in it. I am eager to learn and look to my person whenever I am unsure of a situation.
I’m hoping to find a family that will help me continue with my training and help me shine in my new home. If I’m the dog you’ve been looking for, please put in an application or pass this along to anyone you feel would be a good match.

We are so excited about our new partnership with Petcademy!
We’re on a mission to keep our foster dogs safe and sound by equipping them with GPS devices. Many of our beloved rescues are high flight risks, and the last thing we want is to lose them. Tractive started a Shelter Project where animal rescue organizations are provided these devices for free! However, to activate them, it costs $13 a month per dog. We currently have three active devices with monthly charges but would like to activate some more as the safety and well-being of our dogs is so important!
Please consider signing up to become a monthly donor for $13 a month and provide safety to a dog like Greg (or Bandit who came from the same property and had a scare last month).
