‼️ URGENT REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE ‼️
Dear Friends and Supporters:
On behalf of all of our strays and rescues – past, present and future - we would like to sincerely thank you for your generous support for the thousands of sick, injured, abused and/or neglected souls who have come through our doors in the past two decades. It is our mandate to accept those for whom no one else is able to care (ie: those with no owner to advocate and make decisions for them, those requiring intensive medical care, those whom shelters are not able to accept due to large medical costs/ongoing care, etc).
DunRoamin’s goal is to bring these animals back to health and ensure they are no longer a part of the cycle of homelessness and overpopulation many of our strays fell victim to. All DunRoamin’ rescues are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, treated for parasites and socialized so that they may join loving families. Some of our rescues are owned surrenders for whom their families can no longer afford care due to unexpected medical issues. Some come from SPCA’s or shelters who lack the resources to care for a pet. Others are strays who, through no fault of their own, have become sick, injured or neglected and have no other option for survival if not accepted by DunRoamin’.
As of September 11, we have 102 rescue cats in our care, with four potentially leaving for adoption. We accept an average of one rescue every 2.5 days. In July, 2024, we took in 25 rescues and in August 2024, we took in 14. So far this year, nine of our rescues were unable to survive as they were too sick or injured upon their arrival and we had no choice but to support them in their journey to Rainbow Bridge.
We do not receive government funding and operate solely on the generosity of the public and any grants we qualify for. Due to the increasing costs of food, litter, medical care, staff salaries, internet services, rent, building maintenance, etc, and the ever-increasing number of animals and medically complicated cases that come to our doors looking for help, our resources are at an all-time low and we require substantial financial assistance to continue our work.
We are able to pay our August 2024 medical expenses and perhaps part of September’s, but for the first time in over twenty years, we will then be at the end of our financial resources.
Our vet bills average between $10,000 and $15,000 per month, with our August 2024 invoice of almost $18,000 which included more than 70 appointments for our sick/injured and adoptable rescues.
‼️ Providing for the 98+ animals that remain in our care will be our priority and we will be unable to accept intakes until we are confident we can financially support more rescues. We will also be halting our spay/neuter programs until funding is readily available.

It is our wish to continue our work of supporting our communities by helping the strays and rescues who also live here who do not have the ability to advocate for themselves. We wish to help as many as we can for as long as we can, but to do so, we need your help. Again, thank you for your generous support. We cannot do this without you.
Sincerely,
The Strays and Friends of DunRoamin’
