Since I am a service dog handler, I wanted to share this for public informational purposes. I did not take my pet and have a label placed on it simply so I could take it everywhere. It took over 2 1/2 years and close to a total of $80,000 to train my dog to complete specific tasks to keep, me safe and able to live as independently as possible with dignity. Have some respect. Please do not take your pet with you wherever you go simply because you do not want to leave it home alone. Respect for those who legitimately need these creatures for survival and independence.

Last week we said goodbye to Matrix, whom Dr. Evan had treated since he was a puppy. His family was very generous to donate several books that can help other families navigate the loss of a furry family member. It was very kind of them to think of helping others on such a sad day. We have these resources at the clinic should you need them.

This is what the family had to say about their dear Matrix.

Matrix was not your typical Border Collie. He really loved to lounge on his couch and was much more of an observer than a dive into action kind of dog. He loved his food & all tasty treats, and proudly showed off toys stolen from his big sister. He was so very easy-going, laid-back and friendly that he made human & dog friends wherever he went. Whenever we brought him to see Dr. Evan, he bravely took his shots without any fuss and Dr. Evan was always impressed with his stoicism and trusting nature. We played the song, "One More Day", by Diamond Rio, as he crossed over the Rainbow bridge. He will be sadly missed by his humans and siblings, Sonic and Lexus.
