Obedience Training at Sudbury District Kennel Club
🔔 NEW CLASS ALERT! 🔔 Check out our Competitive Obedience for Beginners Class starting Saturday August 31st with instructor Karen F.
This class is designed for people who want to take their training beyond pet and recreational dog training. The goal will be to refine and build obedience skills for people who are considering competing in the future. If this is your training focus, students will be able to continue developing their handling and dog skills development from session to session as preparation for ultimately entering obedience or rally obedience trials.

SDKC Level 4 Obedience Jan/Feb 2024 Students
We are midway through week two of our January/February session and are so happy to see our handlers and dogs back to work after a couple weeks off for the holidays!
Our Level 4 Obedience students are cleaning up and refining their skills to build a built proof heel that is competition worthy! This means managing expectations and only rewarding the best repetitions in a training session. We can't wait to see the results of their hard work in six more weeks!

Level 6 Agility: Proofing Handling Skills
In Agility 6, we proof and perfect our handling skills. Here we are doing a fun little drill to that focuses solely on our feet! The class had a lot of fun and laughs with their garbage bag gowns! What will our crazy...opps! we mean creative, instructor think of next?!
This weekend our Level 3 Obedience Class also wrapped up their September/October session.
As a fun project students were asked to apply the concept of shaping to teach their dog to get into a box. So many skills are exercised in teaching this fun party trick! We saw students challenge their dogs with boxes of all sizes, and also work through over coming their dog sensitivity and/or lack of confidence to build this behavior.
Congratulation goes out to all 6 handlers and their dogs for successfully completing their training. We wish you the best of luck as you continue training and take on the real world with all you have learnt!
