After Sunday afternoon , I will be on vacation for a week of barrel racing at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition ✨.
I will be offline for the majority of the time; so please be patient with messages, emails and phone calls. I will be back and returning messages August 19th. 🫶🏻

Beginning at the end of September , I will be offering daycare on a small scale (max 15 dogs/day) Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.
Dogs attending MUST be social or at the very least dog selective. I have a smaller area for the littles, and a large area for the big pups.
I will also run a day specifically for puppies if there is enough interest .
Please message me if you are interested in being put on a list and which days you would like to attend. If we can keep consistent groups each week that would be ideal.
$28 plus tax/dog/day

Group class is cancelled tonight due to the extreme heat (humidex is reading 41 degrees 🥵) and advisories are out to limit outdoor time as much as possible for pets.
Fingers crossed Mother Nature takes a night off soon 🤞🏻

PSA: folks, please don’t walk your dogs in this heat wave unless it’s early morning or late evening .. So many out this afternoon at peak heat times on hot sidewalks/pavement ..
Find a different activity to keep your dogs busy. Go to the shore, beach (be aware of blue algae and risks of water toxicity), mental enrichment games inside.. Your dogs do not need to be walked in 40 degree weather. 🫶🏻🥵
Just want to say thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding over the last couple of weeks, I know my response time has been slower than usual. This guy was an energetic, but nervous boy that just needed some direction and guidance and learn to slow down a little bit .

Group classes will go ahead this week . We’re going to change up the lesson plan a bit , and use the agility obstacles this week to build some confidence, keep things light and fun✨
I’m slowly easing back into work this week, and getting back to emails and messages and I thank everyone for their patience, kind messages and comments ❤️🩹
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE seeing dogs relax around one another? Probably, but I’m gonna say it again.
Teaching dogs to chill is so overlooked, probably because it’s kind of boring 🤷🏻♀️. Not for me, but most people are so excited to teach their dogs other “fun” skills and they skip the boring until there’s problems. People raise an eyebrow often when I talk about how much a down stay can improve your relationship with your dog and how much it will do for them mentally.
I could honestly care less if dogs want to be extremely social with other dogs, if they want to have friends, wrestle and run around. You can’t be a jerk, but you also don’t NEED to be the life of the party.
I love dogs that just want to hang out, can coexist with other dogs, but I’m the most valuable thing to them in that environment. I want to be the most valuable thing in all of the environments, because I want them to know I have their back at all times. I’m going to make the decisions for them and keep them safe, so then they can lower their defences and just RELAX.
This right here, has so many benefits and will transfer into real life situations ALL THE TIME.
Want your dog to stop begging at the kitchen table? Place (down stay with duration).
Want your dog not to be all up in everyone’s business when they come over? Place.
Your dog needs to follow you from room to room, panics when they can’t get into a room with you? Place.
Dog has anxiety/reactivity in the car? Put them in a down for the drive.
Want to go camping, sit around a bonfire, watch your kids soccer game and have it be enjoyable with your dog? Place.
Pub patios this summer with your dog? Place.
Teach your dog how to be still, and just let the world go by.

Our hearts will never be the same, the house will never be the same, and our pack will never be the same.
I remember the first time I saw him like it was yesterday. His fluffy golden face and those big brown eyes, perched in the backseat with his valley bull brother, Rocky. I loved him immediately, but thought .. we couldn’t possibly have three dogs… (Ha).
A few weeks later, I saw he was posted alone. Todd was away for hockey, and I figured, “what’s the harm.. they probably won’t approve us anyway”.
Well. They did lol.
I remember Taarna Rollings telling me all about his sweet demeanour, his love for tennis balls, and how he didn’t seem at all phased by other dogs.
I thought, this has to be too good to be true. We wanted Apollo to have a friend and try to build his confidence with other dogs, and this guy sounds perfect.
And perfect he was.
The day he came to us, he didn’t even need a leash. It was as though he had lived in that tiny pmq his entire life. Stuck to us like glue.
He and Apollo became fast friends, despite our best efforts to keep them separated with a large (and I do mean large) gate, we would arrive home to find them laying together by the door.
I wish I could take the credit for his training, but he came to us perfect; obedient, loyal, protective of his family, the gold standard of the German shepherd if you will.
Over the years, Spike became my demo dog for training, the dog that helped build the confidence of other insecure dogs, he became the first friend for many dogs.
The last few years we watched our best friend slow down, his hips become weaker, which led him to retirement from being my demo dog.
We have cherished every moment, and gave him the retirement dream of as many naps, snacks and snuggles that every dog deserves at his age.
I kept saying I wanted to see his 13th birthday, and I know he stayed for us and gave us just a little bit longer.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. 💛
I’ll miss you for the rest of my life, my best golden boy.

The theme is golden 💛. Welcome Hank! Here for 14 days to work on a calmer state of mind overall, increase his confidence , diminish jumping, and leash pulling.
First board and train has arrived this afternoon ! Nova is here for 14 days to boost her confidence in new environments, around other people, and dogs. While developing a good off switch and diminish her barking .

We are in for a HOT week folks . Remember to stay hydrated, don’t walk your pups on the pavement (honestly probably skip the walk all together unless you can beat the heat in the AM or it cools down in the PM), leave them at home where it’s cool, not in the car 🚙.
We will play group classes by ear ! If it cools off enough in the evenings, great! However, if it’s still unbearable we will hold off until next week! I’ll send out emails regardless though ☺️

That’s a wrap for Freddy boy ✨ Day 21/21 . He has truly been a pleasure to prepare for summer patio season.

Say 12/21 - prior to a pinched nerve taking me out , Fred had a fantastic outing today ✨ (If I’m slow responding, just know I’m incapacitated at the moment 🫠😭)

Day 8/21 - More recall work. I like to break up the days between public outings. That is our main goal, to get Freddy a little more settled in public, but I like to throw an adventure day in between to allow a little decompression and bring down those cortisol levels. Even though Freddy isn’t “reactive” per se, he does get over stimulated easily, and when you try to do back to back in public training, you may not be allowing enough time for those hormones to settle back down and it can cause them to be even more over stimulated on day 2. Think about it like a boiling pot of water, you’re putting just enough heat, in this case stress/pressure to bring to a simmer/boil, but we don’t want to turn up the heat (stress/pressure) to the point of boiling over. You need to decrease the heat (stress/pressure) after creating the simmer/boil , not add more. So today we decrease the pressure/stress and circle back tomorrow 😌.

Maverick ✨ I haven’t asked much of this guy while he’s been decompressing from the shelter, transport, etc. but I’ve been working on engagement, being valuable to him in any situation/environment. This guy has spent very little time on a leash; with likely nobody teaching him what leash pressure means. We are in the woods, on a long line and a harness and this is the focus I get from him❤️
