POV: you’re celebrating your small business turning 2! What an experience it has been to be a business owner. I cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone who has supported this journey! Happy birthday to Big Heart Canine 🎂 It was incredible to spend the evening in the most beautiful suit at .laundry.roomsThe full size kitchen was a blessing and being able to bring my dog was just perfect. Their suits are full size apartments with tons of room for a crate or a dog bed and they even supplied us with dog bowls 🥹. Cheers to more years helping folks with their pups! 🥂 🐾

Join us in congratulating Emma on her graduation! Emma has done over 550 hours of training with us and has shown an excellent understanding in both the theory and practical side of training. She’s a natural! 👏

We’re so proud of what Emma has accomplished both with her demo dogs and her little sidekick Levi! We’re excited to see her take on the world as a dog trainer while continuing to learn and grow.

Imagine trying to learn complicated sociological theories in a room full of screaming children playing with remote control cars. Sounds like a 0/10 experience 😬.

That’s how hard it can be for your dog to learn new emotional responses to triggers while experiencing high levels of anxiety. There is nothing wrong with medicating your dog while you’re training them. Medications can help balance out your dog’s brain chemistry to create a healthier mind and allow for better learning experiences.

Some dogs need medication. Some dogs need extra care and steps. Not every animal is the same. There’s no shame in the med game!

As we shift into a more supportive form of dog training and are more involved in the day-to-day of it all, I was asked the question “how do I hide my big feelings in the situation”

Well, you don’t.

“Hiding” your feelings is like suppressing them. We work so hard not to suppress our dogs feelings, why would we do that to ourselves? The anxiety is valid, you’ve had a hard time and it’s tough to let go of those experiences. The stress is valid, this is a lot of work and it can feel overwhelming. The guilt, loneliness, embarrassment, upset are all valid.

But so is the pride, the happiness, the accomplishment, the satisfaction.

Our online program “The Mind, Body, and Dog Connection” can teach you how to bring awareness to your feelings, ground yourself, and support you and your dog on this journey.

You wouldn’t enable your family member to participate in something harmful to their well-being, so why let your dog do it?

By allowing your dog to perch on the couch, stare outside and get reactive every time someone passes, you’re enabling them to participate in an activity that’s unhealthy.

There’s a difference between healthy people-watching and scanning with anxiety. If your dog is regularly acting like homeland security, you can only imagine the stress this is putting onto them.

When you remove their access to the trigger, you’re managing their environment and eliminating the opportunity for them to be triggered! Thus creating a much more relaxed dog. 🧘‍♀️
