Happy Valentine’s Day!!♥️
We hope you are looking forward to spending lots of time with your four legged family outdoors this spring and summer! ☀️
To keep your pets and family safe while enjoying the outdoors, we recommend starting on a parasite prevention program to prevent exposure to fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites and potentially heartworm depending on your pets risk.
This fully engorged tick was found locally and was removed off a dog after this long weekend!!🕷
If you haven't already, please contact the clinic by email at [email protected] or phone (519) 364-6772 to order your prevention ahead of time to ensure we have product ready for you!
Someone better tell these ear mites that they are not respecting the covid-19 social distancing restrictions!🕷🚫😂
Ear mites live and reproduce in the ears of cats and dogs. They can cause intense itching, contribute to signs of inflammation and ear infections.
If a pet has ear mites, a good indication is the dark, brown debris that usually resembles dried coffee grounds. We can confirm if a pet has mites by taking an ear swab and looking under the microscope. (See video below)!
There are certain veterinary products that can be applied to help get rid of these pesky critters and to help everyone feel less itchy!
Wishing everyone a mitey fine Monday!!😁
It’s time to crack out those Christmas sweaters!!!🎄🎄🎄
Join us this coming Friday, Dec.10th as we dress to impress in our Ugly Christmas Sweaters!!
Our team members will be getting into the festive spirit as we wear our sweaters for a day instead of the usual day to day scrubs.
If you, are dear clients and patients have great Christmas sweaters you’d like to show off, please join in the fun for your appointments on Friday as we spread some holiday cheer around the clinic!❄️♥️🐾🐶🐱
A ‘Mitey’ find!!!! 🕷🔬
Have you ever seen Sarcoptes?!
This little guy (below) is a mange mite, that can be found on canine species. They cause intense itching, and affected areas usually become crusty, dry and thickened, as these mites burrow deep into the skin.
Infestation typically starts on the head and spreads. This fellow was found on the outer edge of an affected ear flap. These mites are found by doing deep skin scrapes and looking under the microscope.
Spotting the mite as a result, we were able to treat accordingly and send this patient home with the correct preventative medication to get rid of these pesky critters!!🙌🏻
Welcome back to Wellness Wednesday!!🌿🤍
Our little kitty, Snoopy is back to demonstrate the importance of drinking water to stay healthy!💦
Water serves the main purpose of transferring important nutrients in and out of the body’s cells. It helps digest food, absorb nutrients and helps regulate normal body temperature. If pets lack water, they can become dehydrated.
It is important to always have fresh, clean water readily available for your pets.
Although, it is also important to watch for when your pet might be drinking too much water. These occurrences could possibly lead to other signs of illness, in which case your veterinarian should be contacted.🩺
Keep those furry friends happy and hydrated!😺
