The Lakehead Light Horse Association was first established in 1955 when area horse enthusiasts realized the need for an association to promote horses and the life that revolves around the horse. strives to help the public understand our dedication to horses and spread awareness of the horse community. By the promotion of clinics, good sportsmanship, proper horsemanship, and education, we hope to e
ncourage the safe and pleasurable pastime of horses. We are a very family orientated club and welcome those of all ages and of all riding levels. The 4D system is designed to reward riders of all ages, experience, and competition level. We have 3 divisions Youth, Open, and Lead Line, to further reward and to promote a safe environment for everyone. The Youth also host “Old Timer Gymkhanas” for those who may be a bit older, but still young at heart, and love to come out and enjoy themselves. If you prefer the trails to the ring, that’s fantastic, you may wish to join in our relaxing, scenic trail rides. hosts 6 regular gymkhanas from May to September, and 2 Old Timer gymkhanas at the Murillo Fair Grounds. We also have 2 shows (June and September), and 2 organized trail rides (June and September). Our club gladly supports, and has involvement in other community clubs, as well as incorporating clubs in our events. If your club wishes to become involved please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you would like to participate in our club, we always welcome and appreciate new members and volunteers. Our members are always pleased to assist anyone who wishes to join our events. If you are interested in attending a L.L.H.A. meeting, they are held the fourth Tuesday of every month from January to November. Meetings begin at 7:30pm at the Stanley Hotel. All members or anyone who wishes to become a member, are encouraged to attend the meetings to listen in, participate in discussions, voice their opinions, and express any concerns or questions.
