Coming back from a week away of rest and recharge. My partner's family owns a camp near Sudbury, and I am grateful to have this space to go with my crew so that we can R&R together.

As a solo operator of a small business, it is never easy to decide to take time off and leave your clients without care. That being said, among the best decisions for my business is taking time off. Why?: because I always come back with a renewed sense of self and perspective in situations of challenge.

Most importantly, the time away is only made possible by the incredible support of my clients who encourage me to step away. For them, I am also grateful.

How do support my clients in my time off?:

1) Give them plenty of advanced notice. At least, 3-4 months notice for a week off and more for more time, and

2) Help them find alternative pet care services if they are in need while you are away.

To other pet care providers, if you are feeling drained / tired / on-edge, consider it as a message from your body to press pause and recharge. Speaking from experience as someone who has burnt out 3 times in their former career, if you don't take time, your body will make sure you do (and this is generally never convenient timing).

For pet parents who support their pet care professional in their time off - thank you! You are a rock star ⭐️

We are 25 dog walkers participating in a 100k step challenge to raise money for the rescue FurWarriors. This rescue works tirelessly to save the lives of innocent animals everyday, and we wanted to find a way to support them.

Our goal:

Is to raise money on behalf of FurWarriors by collectively walking 100k steps per dog walker in 5 days!

Date: Monday Feb 13th to Friday Feb 17th all inclusive.
