Saturday evening our staff and their families headed over to the Lloydminster Exhibition Association to kick off the festive season with a delicious meal and then a terrific visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! 🎅🏼🤶

Book your preg checking early!

We recommend calling at least a few weeks in advance so you are able to get a time and date that works best for you! Another tip - coordinate with your neighbors to book for the same day - this saves us time AND you can save on mileage costs!

Pregnancy checking with ultrasound can be done as early as 30 days after breeding. Knowing which animals are pregnant and which are open can help save you time and money by not feeding, vaccinating, or deworming your open cows through the fall and winter.

Dr. Doug attended the WCVM White Coat Ceremony to share his perspective with the Class of 2027 on life in the veterinary career- and we can’t think of a better person to share some insight! This guy surely has seen some great things and changes throughout his years (but we’re not saying he’s old, just experienced😉)!

A sad day as today was our student Clare’s final day with us! Clare is off to university in September to begin her pre-veterinary medicine studies with plans of becoming a poultry vet!
As the youngest daughter of our very own Dr. Dawn Wever, many of us have had the pleasure to see Clare grow up over the years, and truly what an incredible young woman she has turned into. In the past 2 years she has spent working for us, we have all witnessed firsthand her easy going nature, her quick witted humor, and her love for all things ‘feathered’!
Our team will miss Clare deeply around here but we wish her all the best on this next big adventure!! Good luck Clare! 📚✏️

A very big welcome to our newest veterinarian added to the team, Dr. Tory Yont!

Tory is from Langenburg, Saskatchewan and recently graduated from the WCVM in Saskatoon. She grew up around horses, cattle, cats, and dogs. From a young age she knew she wanted to be a vet. It also helped that she had Dr. Kent to look up to, as he completed his first few years of work in Langenburg!
Tory enjoys the diversity of mixed animal practice, and has a special interest in equine medicine and small animal surgery.
When Tory is not at work you can find her traveling the globe, enjoying outdoor activities like hiking or snowboarding, and making trips back home to see her family. She looks forward to meeting the clients of all her patients!

We are very excited to report that Dr. Aly Harland has joined our team to provide chiropractic care for your animals - both big and small! Dr. Aly is a friend to many of us here at Weir Vet, so we are extra excited to have her spending an afternoon a week with us.

Dr. Aly Harland was born and raised on a small cattle farm north of Lloydminster. She studied Animal Science at the University of Saskatchewan prior to attending the University of Western States in Portland, OR where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic. During her first year of human practice she attended the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Center in Ontario to receive her Animal Chiropractic certification. She has always had a passion for animals so incorporating animals into her practice was a perfect fit. When Dr. Aly isn’t at work, you can find her on the family farm spending time with her animals, or out playing volleyball or ball.

Chiropractic appointments with Dr. Aly are available each Thursday afternoon. We encourage you to speak to your veterinarian next time you are in to explore this care option for your animal!

Last week was Dr. Kim Christie’s final week with Weir Veterinary Services and since we will miss her twice as much we thought she deserved 2 cakes 🎂!
It’s been a tremendous 10 years with Dr. Christie as part of the team and the loss we already feel is huge, but we are incredibly excited for this next chapter she is embarking on and wish Dr. Christie all the best!
