Watch this video... and tell me how this beautiful girl feels about getting her nails trimmed.
Our first visit saw Skye meeting us at the door, but when it came time for nails she had every tool she knew ready to use to avoid getting her nails trimmed. Our first visit was over 45 minutes long, and 17 million treats, and 3x that amount in praise... and allllll of us were tired from pacing around the kitchen with her.
Today? Today was an absolute turning point for Skye! She met us at the door, and she was happy to see us.
She still truly loves the love and praise she received from both her mom and dad. Her trust is building in all of us who are her support system. Her trust in herself is building that she can do this.
I left her home today with tears on my face. I'm SO proud of Skye and the transformation that's happening in front of our eyes. I'm so happy for her mom and dad who love her and want the best and are working towards the goal!
And guess what? When nails were all done, treats and praise given, Skye went to Connie all on her own, gave her a hug a kiss and a 20 second head touch! 💙
Talk about the BEST feeling in the world? THAT was it!
Skye = 20/10 Good Girl!

Well, guess what? 2 of these happy bums live in this house, and one came over to play. And because their moms are super duper smart, they saved money today, because we trimmed multiple nails in one stop.
You see, at 3 pets per home, we offer a discount of $5.00 per pet! These folks actually saved 20 bucks today (they had a cat too)
We call this a win/win!

Want to talk seriously for a minute? Want to know a couple reasons why your dog HATES getting their nails cut?
Pain and Fear
Pain is the main reason that dogs hate nail trims. If your dog has ever been cut too close, even once, he will remember it. Nature provides pain as a protection and if something hurts, an animal must learn to avoid, and even fight it. This is a survival instinct.
If your dog has ever had a sore joint that hurt when you pulled the leg out to trim or if he is a member of the short legged breeds, like Bassett Hound or Dachshund, it might be uncomfortable for you to stretch the legs firmly for a trim. Again, pain is a strong memory for a dog and to survive he needs to remember painful things and avoid them.
And Fear
Fear is another thing that dogs instinctively must remember. Animals in the wild must be able to remember and avoid situations or places where they felt their lives were in danger, like a place where predators lurk or there is a sharp drop off. When you restrain your dog, (without previously teaching him that there is nothing to fear) you trigger his fear response and his survival instincts kick in. He might struggle and you tighten your grip. Then he is truly panicked and feels that he cannot escape. His fight or flight response could cause him to fight you or to bite you. This damages your bond irrevocably. After a struggle, whenever you go to trim the nails, you are nervous and he reads your body language and it confirms that there is a need to be afraid.
So let us help. We don't guarantee that we will be successful, but we promise to make the experience as pain and Fear free as we possibly can. ❤️
