Bilbo just here to remind you how handsome he is ! He’s my little cinnamon bun ❤️
Fun fact: did you know that ball pythons are native to Africa ! A lot of people like to think Australia but they have what’s called a carpet python. Where Africa has African rock pythons and ball pythons. Both countries do have a few more species of pythons. However, those are the most common ones 🙂

Let’s talk about something I have recently discovered. Did you know there are moths out there that are flightless ?! Well silkmoths are not only adorable but they are flightless. Making it easy to hold them.

Why do I not let people hold tarantulas at events ?
I will admit when I first got into the tarantula hobby. I did ask about which tarantulas are the easiest to hold. It’s normal to want that thrill of holding them. We all see it on TV where people will hold them at zoos or pet stores. Just because we see it on TV doesn’t make it the best decision. Tarantulas are unpredictable they could be calm one second and then the next they could run up your arm and that could startle you. They are incredible species and I absolutely adore owning them. This is why I am trying to educate about them and to teach good practice of owning them 🙂 🕷️

Let’s talk about crested geckos !
Have you ever felt a crested gecko walk on you? Well, they have sticky pads. Which allows them to climb up smooth surfaces, including glass walls 🙂

Dragon attack… attack of love ❤️

If you come across a spider in your home and you decide to release it back out side. Take the extra step and learn about the spider. You can do this by taking picture of the spider and posting it on this page to find out the species of spider it is. From there you can do the research on it 🥰🕷️

Saturdays call for cleaning bins 🥰🐍
04/08/2023
Fun Fact: Leopard geckos have lots of small little teeth! They have 100 small teeth that are each replaced every 3-4 months. This makes them polyphyodonts, animals whose teeth are continually replaced

Did you know that rats make the best pets? They can be very social if you work with them. My friend meghan at Travel to You Zoo breeds rats 🙂

Can you see the green Lynx spider molt ?
Turns out it’s a Green Lynx spider and unfortunately not a rainbow Lynx. But I find Oxyopidae family the coolest spiders out there.

If you ever thought about owning a tarantula 🙂 The top couple of tarantulas I suggest if you are just starting off in the hobby is grammostola pulchra (Brazilian Black Tarantula), Grammostola pulchripes (Chaco golden knee tarantula) and the wonderful beautiful Eupalaestrus campestratus (Pink zebra beauty tarantula).
03/26/2023
Try not to kill the house hold spiders 🙂 because they are amazing pest control. I promise you don’t notice half the spiders that live in homes. They are good at hiding and don’t overly want to be seen by you.
03/26/2023
To feeding, giving fresh water, or anything that would lead me to open up their bins 🙂 🕷️

Did you know that tarantulas have something that’s called a exoskeleton? What is a exoskeleton you may ask. It is a rigid external covering for some invertebrate species such as spiders. This protects and also gives them support. In order to grow they molt. Which is taking off their old exoskeleton 🙂 which you will see in the picture.

Even the littlest insects matter ❤️🐛🐝🪱🦋🐌🐞🐜🪰🦗🕷

Ball pythons give the best snuggles ! How long do you think ball pythons live for ? Answer will be in the comments 🙂 🐍
03/15/2023
Did you know there are up to 7,500 different morphs out there of ball pythons ? And there are still more being created. This is why you will see different colours and designs of ball pythons. For example, Bilbo here is a Calibee banana morph but still is a ball python snake.

A Brazilian Black Tarantula protecting his very recent molt !
03/13/2023
Can you find the rainbow Lynx spider molt ?
Spiders have a exoskeleton. Meaning they shed their exoskeleton in order to grow 🙂 which is their molt.

Did you know that Pacman frogs are awful swimmers ?

Sometimes we got to start off small to understand and respect certain species ❤

A much deserved feeding for this little fella. First two events within two days.
Fun fact: a Brazilian black tarantula venom is so mild. It is used to just paralyze it’s prey.

First time pairing for me here at Tiana Jurassic Exotics! And I was thankful for a lock. Ball pythons have what are called spurs/hooks. Both females and males have them. The spurs/hooks are located by the end of their tail. In the video you will see how their tails are close together. They are hooked together and can stay this way up to 72 hours. This pairing is a Banana Calibee (possible Het Pied) x Pinstripe Het Pied
