Its that time of year again!
Walk for guide dogs is coming up and we are very excited here at Cottage Country Dogs to start raising money for this amazing charity!

This year Cottage Country Dogs has created my own team with an intention of raising more money and bringing more awareness around the event and how to get involved.

Established in 2021.

Cottage Country Dogs is owned and operated by Brandyn Knight. With Brandyn's passion and love for animals especially dogs and his extensive work background in many different industries Brandyn Knight has realized his true calling in life is helping others and spending time with animals. He has discovered the best way that he could help others in their community as well as fulfil his needs and wants to be around dogs. He decided he wanted to start a dog care services business in Orillia and surrounding areas helping out dogs in any way that he possibly can. Brandyn has always been determined and eager to own and operate his own business but was never exactly sure what it is he would want to do that would fulfill his dreams. With 5 years of planning out multiple different business plans related to animals and helping others in the community. He decided to stop wasting time trying to come up with the PERFECT plan and to just get started! And that is how Cottage Country Dogs started!

Brandyn Knight is a hard working and determined individual who absolutely loves to help others in any way that he possibly can. He is very passionate about community services and has an abundance of love for all animals especially dogs.
Brandyn has many years of work experience in multiple different industries where he took on supervisory level positions including working for local animal shelters as well as being a provincial offences officer in the animal welfare department within the OSPCA. Brandyn has a diverse set of skills but one thing Brandyn has learned through all of his experiences is that he is very determined to own and operate his own business helping others and animals. After creating multiple business plans all related to helping others and animals and spending years of trying to come up with the "perfect" plan. Brandyn has decided to go ahead and start fulfilling his dreams and has fully registered Cottage Country Dogs as a business in Ontario.

What is your absolute most favourite thing to do with your dog ?
For me it's any type of adventure where we can work on training at the same time. Walking, jogging, running, biking, rollerblading.... anything that gets me and my dog out of the house together working on his training as well as building a stronger more connected bond!

Dino is one smart cookie!
Excited to be back working hard on his training. Eager to please and full of energy.
Dino is just a puppy and he has been working hard on breaking his puppy nipping habbits, has improved on his loose leash walking, sit, stay, lay down and recall.
He is progressing very fast! 💯🐾🐶💞

Training a dog is a never ending process!
I truly believe that theres no such thing as a fully trained dog. They learn and grow just like us humans. Different environments make them think, act and react differently but all capable of learning in their own ways.
If you continue to train a dog, they will continue to amaze you!

Although, I dont know how many times I have heard someone talking about how they are trying to teach their dog to do something and they are doing it in the same way they had previously taught another dog, so they can not figure out why the training is not working when it has in the past.

Well the truth is, not every dog is the same. Personalities, likes, dislikes, motivational factors and many more characteristics differentiate within different dogs.
Its up to the owner to figure out what motivates and drives YOUR dog.
Not your past dogs, not your friends or family members dogs, not the dogs you see online in videos that make it look so easy! (They have more then likely been trained for the video).

Its up to you - the OWNER to spend time with your dog or have someone like a trainer to help figure out what drives them and motivates them to learn. I promise you, if you spend some time with your dog doing different things and trying different training techniques, you will truly build a stonger more connected bond with your dog but also learn fun and engaging ways to train your dog for both you and them.

Make it fun! Play with your dog while you train them. Be positive and bring out your innner child. Dogs love when you get excited on the same level as they are !
Exciting, fun, engaging and powsitive training is what Cottage Country Dogs is all about!
We learn to speak your dog and then we train them in a way that keeps them happy but also in a way that keeps the owners happy!

Cottage Country Dogs would like to welcome our furst guest, Dino! He is as fun as he is handsome. He is a 4 month old Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd.
Dino has come a long way in his listening skills and is a quick learner. He shows a natural talent for agility and loves to run.
It's the start of a new training adventure!
We are so excited to welcome him to our FUREVER PAWSITIVE family!
