Meet Leila 💗 Leila is not grumpy, she is happiness challenged! She can can come across as crotchety, but that's just to those who misunderstand her! Leila is a loyal kitty who came from a loving home. Leila lived happily with her owner since she was a kitten. Unfortunately, due to a very sad set of circumstances, Leila's owner was no longer able to care for her. So now, Leila is here, with new people who she doesn't know. And she's not really a "People Person"! Leila would like an adult only quiet home with no other animals. She would do best with experienced cat people. Leila loves to lay on the couch and relax. When living with her mom, she really enjoyed pets and rubs around her face and neck. She allowed her mom to pick her up and brush her. She will come to you but does not want attention when she's not in the mood. We all know someone like this right?! It's not really that uncommon! At only 9 years young, Leila has lots of life and energy and really likes playing with toys. Leila will warm up to someone new given time. She is not enjoying being here at the shelter. She needs to go home. Since arriving at the shelter she is definitely coming around to the staff and being more patient with us and she is letting us give her little pets on her head. She really likes treats and can definitely be bribed to like you using Temptations!! Leila will let you know when she's not happy, she gives you plenty of warning! She's good at communicating her feelings. Hi I'm Elsa, I may look big and tough but I'm just an oversized teddy bear who's favourite thing is to be hugged! I don't really get my size, so when you sit down I will come and sit on your lap and lean in for the snuggles! Watch out I'm a tad bit heavy but that just means there's so much more of me to adore! I am such a cuddle bug, and I love my hoomans so much. I am lonely here at the shelter and I don't like being in my kennel alone, I want to be with people. I will look to you for reassurance and love when you put your arms around me and give me lots of kisses. I like to feel the love! I'll lie down and put my head on your legs and lie there quite content to let you rub my face or my belly. I love when people come in to visit me and I really enjoy going outside for walks and having a good sniff around. I walk very well on the leash for the most part, but if I see someone I want to go say hi to, I can pull, so I need a teeny bit of training, but I'm a smart cookie and I learn really quickly and I'm eager to please! Speaking of cookies, I am quite partial to the odd cookie! Or 5!! Mmmmmm cookies!! I have lived with children in my previous family and I really enjoy their company. Hi I'm Ace, I'm a big softie! I just love people. I adore attention, crave cuddles, thrive on tenderness. My favourite thing is when people come to see me and give me lots of rubs and snuggles. I will rub up against you and nestle right in for some neck rubs and cheek scratches. I'm a social butterfly and I dream of having a loving family to call my own. Ace is a beautiful cat, inside and out. Unfortunately Ace has gone through a bit of a hard time and wasn't in the best shape when he came to us. Ace is diabetic. Like in humans, these days diabetes is easy to deal with. Since arriving at the shelter, Ace has done so well and is now healthy and is being treated for diabetes and is doing amazing. He looks great and feels great. Ace requires an injection of insulin in the morning and evening. He is such a good boy, he is literally one of the sweetest and most loving cats we have ever had. He is no problem to inject. It's a tiny needle that goes into the scruff of his neck with a tiny amount of insulin. He lets us do it no problem at all, hardly notices! He has such a gentle temperament, he is always happy and so affectionate. He loves kisses and cuddles and nudging his head into you to show his love. He's so laid back and is content just to be around you. He likes playing with toys, but cuddling and getting rubs and scratches are his favourite things! You know when he's really enjoying it when he drools. It's very endearing! He's the cutest. Ace truly truly deserves a second chance. He's the best boy and we all love him here at the shelter. OSPCA and OMAH partner for a joint fundraising event Orillia, August 21, 2024 – The Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH) and the Orillia Animal Centre of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society (OSPCA) have partnered to share a unique event for the furry members of our community. Inspired by OMAH’s current exhibition, Pawtraits, the events will highlight the exhibition and will allow community members to attend the exhibit with their pets to see the artefacts on display and have their pawtrait (portrait) taken with a themed backdrop (if you choose) and instant camera. Event dates are Saturday, August 24, between 7 and 9pm (to be included with additional Starry Night activities), Saturday, August 31 between 1 and 4pm (part of the Downtown Pirate Party hosted by the Orillia BIA) and on Saturday, September 21 from 1-4pm. Bring your pet and family members to have your group pawtrait taken, receive treats, and visit the exhibitions. We are extremely grateful for Ren’s Pets who will be providing treats for our pawsome models! Each portrait photoshoot is $30 per pet and proceeds will be divided between the OSPCA and OMAH. What a purrrfect opportunity to have your pets join in on inclusive culture activity right in their community.
