Misfit Mutts provides dog walking, potty breaks & other pet care services. Owner and operator, Samantha Hennigar, has been working in animal care for over ten years now. She got her start by working in a pet store when she was just 17 years old, and has been working in industry every since. Samantha has worked in a variety of roles ranging from supervising pet food stores to managing a doggy dayca

re and boarding facility. She has substantial knowledge of doggy behaviour and body language, and is capable of handling large groups of dogs. Samantha knew that this was her passion from a young age. She always had cats and dogs growing up, but in adulthood she has owned and cared for various types of rodents and reptiles. She uses her love for animals to drive her to provide the best possible care. She is constantly educating herself and researching new information on animal enrichment, training techniques and care guides. For the last couple of years, Samantha has been volunteering her time with a local potcake rescue who brings island dogs up to Canada. She has worked very closely with several dogs with varying personalities and temperaments. Samantha adopted her Jamaican pup from this rescue as well, and this dog changed her life. Junie was Samantha's heart dog - she was a healer and brought light and joy to all that she met. She came to Canada shy and fearful, but she grew more confident and over time she began to love every single person she met. She touched hearts all over the world, truly, and this is what drove Samantha's passion for working with potcakes, but more importantly, with fearful dogs. Every day she strives to make Junie proud and to do her best work.

Barney & Delilah ADORE playing in the snow, catching snowballs and running around like crazy ❄️
Rollie loves playing fetch and bounding through the deep snow (till snowballs build up in his paws) 🤍
Monty was his peoples to get the heck inside so we can snuggle 😂🫶🏻

Please give a VERY warm welcome to our newest foster through 🤍 This is the sweet sweet boy, Ice (AKA Vanilla Ice / Ice Ice Baby).
Ice is a 16 week old Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix who came in through a puppy mill situation. Him and his siblings Polar & Blazer were all found caked in dirt & f***s under a giant piece of sheet metal… So sad. He has already come a LONG way, but he is most definitely a skittish “little dude.” He’s finally learning how to play with his new canine friends & has been very curious of the resident cat! Our big gangly boy has to put on some weight as he’s quite thin, but we shall get there… Good news is he is VERY food motivated!!!

Here an update on my pack of misfits! 🤍🐶🐾
MONTY - Little black Potcake from in Barbados who came to me through Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue], now 2.5 years old
BARNEY - Blonde Potcake from in Barbados who also came to me through Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue], now approx. 3.5 years old
DELILAH - Siberian Husky from Iqaluit who came to me as a foster through Freedom Dog Rescue] and never left, now approx. 9 months old
ROLLIE - Terrier Mix from Iqaluit who came to me at 6 weeks of age through Freedom Dog Rescue] as an orphaned little baby, now approx. 8 months old

We also have The Captain 🐱 He’s obnoxious and runs this ship.

Still beaming over my walk with Blue this morning! The weather was PERFECT and he was on his very best behaviour 🥹💙
Being out in nature is what I’ve always loved & enjoyed doing, and having a canine counterpart to keep me company is even better! Stay tuned for more of our adventures. 🐕
Check out the leash & collar made by the lovely (AND LOCAL😉) 🤍🤍 They have also made all of my little dude gear as well 🤭

With my clothing line back in stock right on time for our HoliRaw Christmas Market im excited to share that 20% of the proceeds of each clothing apparel sold will be going towards in Ottawa 🤍 This rescue has done such an amazing job. It’s where I got Zena from and im truly grateful for everything they do . They rescue animals from Canada and US !

Please welcome Sugar (white female) & Sage (black/white/tan female) to our pack of misfits! These lovely little gals seem to be husky mixes and are 6 weeks old which means they will be looking for their forever homes in about TWO weeks! Keep your eyes peeled for them to be posted on website & FB page! 🤍🖤

Sequoia’s back with all her friends!😝🐾
Miss Sequoia will be staying with us for the next week while her dad is off getting married down south (lucky duck!) Both .thehusky and are thrilled to have someone who wants to run run run just as much as them! 😈🤍
