Welcome to your new home!
We don't have a name for this beautiful flowerhorn cichlid yet, but we have a contest running in store to pick it. Our list of possible names (provided by the staff) includes, Valentine, Squishy, Mr. Bubs, Thorn, Petunia, Daffodil, Blossom, Periwinkle, Sapphire, Watermelon, Meatball, Think Tank and Mr. Brain.

It doesn't take long for the pothos to start using up what it can find in the tank. After only a week, the roots have stretched out over an inch now. The are a great, natural nitrate sponge.

The tank is almost ready. We are just waiting for the fish and we will start our contest. Hopefully in a few more days.. For now, we have added a pothos to the back of the tank. We rinsed the dirt of the roots, and then put the pot into the back. After a couple of days, the roots are starting to reach into the tank. Pothos make a great natural nitrate sponge.

So new gravel is in, we went with Carib-Sea Midnight River, which is a nice little dark pebble. Have the dry layout done, and the tank is filled. We moved some old filter media into the canister, to bring some bacteria over, and filled it up. Finished with a bit of Big Al's Water Conditioner and some bacteria starters/boosters..

New filter time! For this tank, a Fluval 307 canister is perfect, and let's add the Fluval UVC in line clarifier for fun. Working on some hardscape layouts, here is a sneak peak..

The first steps with the new redesign. Drain and clean the aquarium, take out the old fish, and then it is time to pick out some new decor. There is so much to chose from!
