Sesame has been looking for a home since November. I met him this morning and he is adorable!! Definitely Ridgeback in his little Potcake body. Great with other dogs. He is adoptable through Ottawa Dog Rescue.

This is not a post we wanted to write.

We are temporarily closing our intakes effective immediately, which means we can not take in any more dogs other than those we have already committed to.

For months, we’ve been looking at our finances and convincing ourselves that we can help one more.

We complete an adoption, and an open foster spot becomes available, and we think, sweet, we can help one more.

A generous donation comes in that is enough to cover a big vet bill, and we think, amazing, we can help one more.

A desperate plea comes in that breaks our hearts, and we think, absolutely we must... we have to help one more.

It’s day-to-day, and dog-to-dog, but we knew that we were getting closer and closer to acknowledging that we can't help one more - because if we do, we might not be able to help anymore at all.

And it is breaking our hearts.

No one can ever fully understand what it does to a rescuer when we turn away a deserving life because we just can’t afford the cost of “one more”. We face the difficult reality that, in some cases, the one more that we could not save, won’t make it. And until we can re-open intake, we will have some very sad times ahead. We need a bit of a miracle to continue to save lives, and we hope you can help us.

Once we are in a better financial position, we will absolutely re-open intake. We wish we could say exactly when, but this will entirely depend on donations and our fundraising success.

To our rescue, veterinary, and shelter partners, we remain committed to helping you. Please continue to reach out, as we will find ways to support you by networking and collaborating on solutions. We will always do our best to help save lives.

22 years of Fun Fur All Dog Walking/Pet Sitting Services. Man that went fast.
I started 3 months after I moved here from Montreal. I didn’t know neighbourhoods, street names, people, nothing and yet somehow I made it work. I never imagined at 29 that I would still be doing this at 51 and yet I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Thank you to my clients past and present. I have never taken a single day for grated.
Here’s to another 22 years!! 🥂 ❤️🐾
