This is a message to all our loyal followers. It is a very sad time for Ziggy’s Rescue. Ziggy’s Rescue has been forced to close its doors.
I am sure many suspected it was coming. Due to some major personal,health issues, I cannot physically run the rescue any longer. Additionally with adoptions at an all time low and expenses at an unprecedented high, and fundraising completely lacking, it is just not able to support itself. This has been an amazing adventure, and Ziggy’s is proud of the accomplishment of saving over 400 dogs in just 4 years!
We never would have made it happen without the incredible support we have received from volunteers, donors, fosters, adopters, local vet clinics and the local Port Alberni Bosleys.
I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters over the years.
I personally will never fully leave behind the rescue world as it is my passion to see dogs lives saved. I will contribute in a different capacity to assist other rescuers with my knowledge and help in whatever capacity I am able as I manage my personal health issues.

Minnie is ready for her furever home. She is a growing girl who has developed a green thumb, and a love for anything to do with the garden. She is well rounded and as much as she enjoys being outside, she is as happy as can be cuddled up on her own or with her human. Minnie does well with other dogs, cats and kids. Introducing the Prince and Princess litter dedicated to Island Rescue Veterinary Society :) we have 6 girls and 4 boys. Momma is a very sweet mastiff mix that is getting spayed and returned to a family that loves her very much. These guys were born June 11, 2023. Welcome to the Ziggy's Rescue Family little ones !!!!

A Friday Feel Good Story from a recent adoption 😍

So it has almost been 2 weeks since we went and picked up Ruby. Boy oh boy is she a completely different dog. We were fostering Ruby but we are horrible foster parents and decided to adopt her within one week of her being home with us. She's a perfect fit for our family. We were told that she had a few quirks to work on like... Men and or people with hats... she was definitely a nervous dog. She came home with us on the Sunday we hung out outside at our house and she played pretty good with our dogs. The next day Ruby had already improved but still nervous. Then massive improvements happened each day.. first she started to lay beside us. Then she was up on the couch,then on my wife's lap... I started wearing my hat around her and she was good with it... Now we are almost 2 weeks with Ruby and it feels like she's been apart of this pack for ever. She now sleeps with us in our bed. She is the first to come greet me at the door when I get home. Both me and my wife have woken up to her laying on top of us sleeping. I can't go anywhere with out her following me around!!
Anyway we are very excited to be a part of the Ziggy’s Rescue reoffenders list.
We can't thank everyone who was part of the rehabilitation of Ruby and her puppies enough... we get to say we rescued these dogs but in reality we get to do all the glory work. The real rescuers are Ziggy Rescues and crew and all the fosters/volunteers
