I have a new page for this league.
It is “ALERT K9 Scent League 2021”

It is a private page that you have to request to be added too. This way I can post files like the rulebook in there. And it will be easier to add videos etc.

So please go and request to be added. After everyone has been added, I will eventually delete this page.

***Also I will be processing all the payments and registrations and replying to emails tomorrow night.

Thanks everyone!

New League session starts tomorrow!
This week we are going to start off with “Low Blow” and “Under the Gun”.

Good luck and have fun!!

DON’T FORGET!!
League #2 starts on Monday January 4th!

12/29/2020

Ok everyone!! 1 week from today we start League session #2! 🎉🎉
I am excited to get going again and play with my dogs 😊

Remember the one time dog registration fee is $15. The cost of the League play for this coming 6 weeks is $35 per dog.

**Please send your registration and e-transfers to [email protected] and use the password “league”. Please only use that password. If you require a dog registration form, please let me know and I can email it to you.

**A couple things I wanted to update in case others were wondering. Teams can add or change dogs each league session. So if someone can’t play one time but can the next, you can adjust however you like, as long as it is a maximum of 8 people.

**All games are interior or exterior searches except for “Under the Gun”. That is the only game where the hide should be in a container. All other hides must be hidden out of sight of the handler and should not be in a container. If you are unsure how to prepare the hides, have a look through the videos I posted - there is one about preparing the hide. I also show in some of the other videos how I have hidden stuff and you can see how you are unable to see the hides. Also a reminder that all hides are to be set by someone else other than the handler. 😊

****ALSO!!! PLEASE COMMENT BELOW IF YOU PLAYED THE FIRST SESSION AND HAVE ANY FEEDBACK. I would love to hear from everyone what you thought and/or if you have any questions or concerns. If you post on here then everyone can see it, as someone else may have the same question.

And one last thing!! Don’t forget to tell your friends about league and encourage them to play as well!! If someone new registers and plays this set, and they mention you referred them, I will put your name in a draw for a free league session. And I am making two draws!

Thank you everyone for your patience and let’s have some sniffing fun!! ❤️❤️

12/29/2020

I just sent out the results/points spreadsheet to everyone who participated in the first League session. I hope everyone that played received the email, if you haven’t, please let me know and I can send it. Or team captains can also forward to everyone.

12/21/2020

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know I am still working on entering everything and will let you know when I am done!

12/12/2020

Happy Friday everyone!

Just wanted to let you all know that I will either post the results of this first league session or I will email them out to everyone on the email list.

I am actually having my family Christmas this weekend so next weekend I will get caught up with entering everything and let you all know when it’s done!

Don’t forget to refer a friend for the January League so you can be entered to win a free entry!

12/09/2020

Happy Hump day everyone! Just wanted to touch base and let you all know that I am receiving your times and everyone is doing great! There are definitely some challenging searches but I think it’s been going well. 😊

My next league will start the week of January 4th!!

Also - I wanted to do a little promotion/incentive for the January session. 🎉

So if you refer a new person to the league, and they sign up to play in January - you will be put in a draw to receive free entry for yourself! You can refer as many people as you like (the more the merrier 😊). Each time someone signs up, you will get another entry! I will be making 2 draws for the free entry.

Thank you all for your support!!
Christina

Hi everyone! Good job so far! I’ve noticed some really fast times being submitted 😊.

I hope everyone is having fun!

NEXT WEEKS games are “Double Trouble” and “Distractors for 100”. Below is a video of Karma playing the Distractors game.

So there is a food distractor in the seam of the chair that she licks, and you can see the ball and the tug toy in the video as the other two Distractors. This room was used earlier and there was a hide under the mat and one on the door so I think that’s why she was going in and out of the room, as she is still smelling those.

11/30/2020

Hi everyone! Reminder the games for this week are “Sky High” and “Take a Seat”!

Have fun! I can’t wait to hear how everyone likes “Take a Seat”. I thought it was so much fun 😊

11/28/2020

Happy Friday everyone!

Just wanted to apologize for my delays in the last couple of days with sending stuff out to people that had asked. I actually started a new job on Wednesday and have been swamped doing a lot of online training.

So I will get caught up this weekend and then should be better and getting back to all of you.

Thank you!! 😊

11/24/2020

Hello everyone! I hope those that have completed this weeks games already had fun!!

So I have been playing the games with my dogs as well, but a week ahead of everyone, so I can see if there are any problems or things that need to be changed.

Last night I played “Sky High” and “Take a Seat”. So I am going to post the video of all three of my dogs playing “Take a Seat”. I will post a description along with each video.

You can all laugh at my bloopers, and my crooked neck 😬😆 (I have bulging/herniated discs in my neck that are flaired up right now and so I can’t turn well to the right).

Also you can see in the videos all of my dogs are off leash. This room is enclosed so they can’t go anywhere, but clearly they can go out of the search area. So that’s a risk I took by taking them off leash. I also had scent in some places before this for my class and my dogs were sourcing that as well because the hides had just been removed. So definitely a good challenge for them.

So this first video is of Emma, my 17 year old Border Collie. ❤️. She doesn’t do a lot scenting and can get confused, but she still does a great job and loves it!!

11/23/2020

Reminder that the games this week are “Under the Gun”
And
“Low Blow”
Have fun!!

11/22/2020

Good morning everyone!! Our first set of league play starts TOMORROW - Monday November 23rd. Remember each week of league play runs Monday to Sunday and captains have 48 hours to submit results. If you need a copy of the results spreadsheet just let me know!

11/18/2020

Good evening everyone!

Less than 1 week until the first official “ALERT K9 Scent League” starts!!

If you are wanting to play, please get your registrations and payment sent no later than Saturday November 21st.

Reminder that the Dog Registration fee is $15 and that must be paid before your dog can be registered and given a number. And the league fee for this shortened session is $20, and that is per dog you want to play.

All e-transfers should be sent to [email protected]. Please include your dogs name in your e-transfer and your team name if you have one.

Password is “league”

Can’t wait to start!!

11/16/2020

I had a great question asked..

“Question - if a dog false alerts, are they done playing? Do any hides they found prior to false alerting count or no?”

And the answer is - If a dog false alerts, yes they are done playing, however any hides found prior to that still count and they get to keep the points.

11/14/2020

If anyone is looking for a team to play with, please feel free to post on this page as someone else may see it.

I do know there is someone from Prince Albert looking for a team - is there anyone there that is putting one together?

11/12/2020

So I have uploaded all of the videos briefly describing the games and they are labelled. I don’t have a video of “Distractors for 100” yet, but I will do that one on Monday and post on here. I also do not have a video yet for the game “Dig Dig Dig”, but we are not playing it this session so it will be uploaded later and well before we are going to play it.

Please keep in mind these are just guidelines of the games. They are just meant to show the basics. As competitors move up in the levels, the number of hides and the distances will change accordingly.

11/12/2020

This is video #6 describing the game “Take a Seat”.

11/12/2020

This is video #5 describing the game “Double Trouble”.

11/12/2020

This is video #4 describing the game “Low Blow”.

11/12/2020

This is video #3 describing the game “Under the Gun”.
**In the rulebook I indicate that the same container should always be used for the hides. So for example in this search I had one hide (wintergreen) in the first blue container in the left hand row, and the second hide (pine) in the orange container that was right after the blue container - so second in that row. So for all of my searches I will always use those containers for those scents. They can easily be moved around but I re-use them for holding scent - I would never put them out as empty containers because they are contaminated. This is easier to do when you have all your containers identical. But I do have many multiples of those containers so if I was running the same person again with a different dog, I could easily put out a clean blue container and a clean orange container. Then I would put my hides in something completely different.

I hope that makes sense to everyone. If you have questions please ask.

11/12/2020

This is Video #1 that is referenced in the rulebook. For those that might not have a lot of experience with preparing scents and how to avoid contamination.

This is video #2, describing the game “High Fly”.

11/12/2020

Hello everyone! I have sent the Rulebook, Dog Registration form, and Results workbook out to everyone who gave me their email addresses.

Remember our first session of League play starts on Monday November 23rd. League play runs from Monday to Sunday and captains have 48 hours from completion of their searches to submit the results to myself.

I just wanted to post a few updates here for everyone. A few people have asked some good questions and maybe others have had the same questions.

1. All titles are earned per dog as per the rulebook under “Titles and Awards”. However when I post results at the end of the league play, teams will be ranked by points. Then everyone can see where they rank. There are no specific titles for teams at this time, however I may randomly acknowledge teams for achievements and there may be random prizes awarded.

2. People and dogs can compete in as many weeks as they wish or are able to. The same fee applies for the 6 weeks, but if they miss a week, that just means they don’t play those games. So it’s not a problem if someone has to miss a week. Alternatively I have had someone ask if all team members have to play on the same day. The answer is no. If your team captain or whoever is setting hides is willing to meet with different team members on different days of the week to accommodate schedules than that is fine. However, everyone will play the same games each week. And as always, all hides must be blind for all competitors regardless of when they play.

3. We will play 2 games each week and only 2 games. I will announce at the beginning of league play which games are being played and when. So then it is the same for everyone. And then also for my end with data entry I am entering the same 2 games every week.

4. Dogs cannot share spots. So if someone wants to run one dog one week and one the next, they will still have to pay the $35 league entry fee per dog.

**So for this 3 week set of League play, the games will be played as follows:

Week 1 - November 23rd - November 29th
Under the Gun and Low Blow

Week 2 - November 30th - December 6th
Sky High and Have a Seat

Week 3 - December 7th - December 13th
Distractors for 100 and Double Trouble

Any questions please ask!
Christina

11/11/2020

If you would like to be added to the league email group and haven’t already given me your email address, please let me know!

11/09/2020

Hello everyone! Two weeks until league play starts!! I have emailed out the rulebook and dog registration form to those that have requested it. If you have not received one and would like a copy, please send me your email address and I will send everything to you!

Here is some information about registering your dog and also registration for league play.
Individual dog registration is $15 per dog. To register - please complete the form and re-save as a PDF and email back to me. Pictures of the form won't work. You can then send your registration fee to "[email protected]" and please use the password "league". Please also include in your e-transfer in the notes section - what dog you are sending this money for, so I can ensure everything gets matched accordingly. I will then email you with your dog's registration number. That will be your dogs number for life.

You can also e-transfer to the same email address - the $20 for league play if you plan on playing in the league session beginning on November 23, 2020. Please indicate in the message section of the e-transfer what team you are playing on, so I can match you up.

So all teams should think of a name so I can track the teams and it's members and dogs accordingly. If your team name is taken, I will temporarily assign a number behind it until you decide if you want to keep it, or if you want to think of a new one.

I hope to get this page running more efficiently soon, so if anyone is tech savvy and can offer some tips, I would be very grateful. One big thing I need to figure out is how to add a "files" section so all of my documents will be in there for easy access for everyone.

In the meantime, I will email out the forms to anyone needing them, just let me know!

Thanks and stay safe for those of us that got a dump of snow!

11/06/2020

Also, you will notice that I changed a couple things from what was posted before. Teams will consist of 2-8 people. And I am not requiring teams to send in videos each week.
If there are issues I may request videos but for now we are going to try it this way. 😊

10/29/2020

Hello everyone! I just wanted to post a little update for all of you. I appreciate your patience while I get things going. I am working on a rule book which should provide a lot of clarity on all of the questions you have been asking.

Just a few things:

- League play will run for 6 weeks at a time.
- You will play 2 games a week.
- The week will run from Monday to Sunday and you can play the games on any day that works for you and your group.
- Captains of the group will then submit results to me. Groups will consist of 2-6 people. Captains will also submit a video of the hides that are placed to ensure they are consistent with everyone and so that I may be able to offer help if needed.
- All hides must be blind. So that means you must have someone set the hides that isn’t running with a dog. So any dogs and handlers that come in to search will not know where any of the hides are. You have a few options to be able to do this. 1. You can alternate each week who will set the hides. If you have 6 members in your group that would mean 1 person does it every week. 2. You can have someone set the hides that is not playing with a dog. 3. You could have one person set the hides for everyone and after everyone runs, a different person that has already run could re-set the hides so that the first person can run their dog.
- There is a one time $15 dog registration fee and you will be given a number.
- League play is $35 per dog for each 6 week set.
***Please note** prices may change as we go along and I am better able to calculate costs, etc.
- 2nd dogs are allowed to run as long as you are able to reset the hides. For example - I have 2 dogs. So if someone was setting hides for me, I would run Karma first, and then the hides would have to be moved so I could then run Rookie and not know where the hides are.

Because we will be running close to Christmas if we run 6 weeks, for this first league we will only run for 3 weeks. That will be a good chance to play the games and for myself to see what needs to be changed or tweaked.

Cost for the 3 weeks is $20 per dog.

We will start the week of November 23rd.
This will also give everyone a few weeks to get your groups together and decided what days you want to play, etc.

As I mentioned before I hope to have the rulebook done soon, and out to all of you within a week or so.

Thanks again for your patience and support, I am so excited to get this going!!
