Please note: while HEART understands that there are dogs across the planet in desperate need of help, our focus is on dogs in our own backyard, as there are countless of them in remote communities and on reservations suffering in ways only our Northern climate can produce. Beautiful, sweet shepherd mix boy Russet is the only pup with no interest. The girls are a hit! This beefy baby will win you over as soon as you meet him. Fostered in Trail.

Need for rides never stops! Please if you think of anyone with family in Alberta, tag them. These pups are in Edm needing to get to Calgary, Fernie or sometimes we get that miracle ride all the way to the Nelson area.

This is Juno- the pup that was found abandoned in Nelson. No owner has come forward. Due to a serious injury to her front leg, that has healed very badly, she will be receiving an amputation. She is a sweet dog that bonds quickly to her people and is good with children. If someone is open to giving a home to a Tri-pawd she is available.

So many puppies on the way! These are coming to the Trail area in addition to the one we will leave in Fernie for the time being. Get your apps in! If you have an app in from the last 2-3 years you don’t need to re-apply.

Reminder we have the lovely Princess up for grabs. She’s great with people and dogs, sticks around quite well off leash, good in the house! Moderate-high energy, will be an amazing play buddy for you and your current pooch.

Laila is a 5 month old mix (some Malinois likely) who is sweet as a button. Super friendly with people and dogs. A little timid at times. Playful with cats. She’s on track to be a large or medium-large adult. Currently in Rossland BC.

Looking for the owners of this puppy. About 4 months old, female, thin with an old front leg injury. Full transparency- this is an abuse, or at least severe neglect, case at this point so if you recognize this pup or sold/gave her to someone in the Nelson area a month or so ago, please message us with any info.

Not bad for only leaving her pups 4 days ago! Gigi is faster than she looks (especially since she usually looks like she’s glued to your leg).

What goes on behind the scenes in rescue is a lot of washing poopy dogs, poopy crates, and subsequently, poopy vans. After a bath and a nice walk, Button here settled right in to the comfort of foster care.

Sasha! This girl is so sweet and has such a positive energy, she is guaranteed to lift your spirits. Good meeting dogs, loves people, good in the house and off leash. What more can you ask for?

Barney and Wren are both happy, affectionate boys. Brandy (wrinkle face) is a 3 year old sharpei Bassett mix. Barney is a 4 year old husky shepherd mix and Wren is a 9 month old border collie. Full descriptions up on the heartdogrescue website

First day off the farm! Wren did great - learning all about balance and water and the limitations of his clumsy legs. This very loyal boy will make someone so happy. In grand forks

Hannah is officially ready for a family! She is greeting strangers on the trail, sticking around amazingly off leash, and an angel in the house. We are really hoping for a home with another dog because she gravitates to them and a dog friend will really help her continue on her confidence journey.

Hannah’s first off leash moments! She doesn’t really know what to do with herself but she ended up doing great. She’s still timid in new situations but we feel she’s ready for meets!

Chief is a playful young husky-terrier mix (that wire coat!) who has just arrived from Yellowknife. This sweet boy has great recall and will be an amazing adventure buddy without the massive winter fur.

Presenting Hannah’s journey in 7 clips! She was the most scared of all the dogs we picked up at Kanai spay clinic. We haven’t been able to put her on the site because she had no interest in meeting people of any sort. It has been several weeks but her progress is gaining momentum. These dogs are so precious to me and seeing this journey from terror to joy is what keeps us all going. (See progression vids in previous posts)
