Important announcement ahead, so bear with me ☺️

I will no longer be taking on any new clients for services. This excludes anyone I've already offered services to or spoke to about services in the future. On that note though, my availability will be a lot less

A lot of things have changed in my life in the last year, good and bad. And when I began SuperNova I had not anticipated all the changes

I am now working at Paws Republic at the daycare and boarding kennel and also as an assistant intern dog trainer. I also work on Wednesdays at Evolution Raw, so if you're ever in, let Sierra know so i can come say hi! I will absolutely still be around to love and take care of your pets 🐕

Finally seeing some warmer winter days 🌤
I got to see Norah this morning after a few weeks apart, which absolutely lifted my spirits 🥺🤍

Some of you may have heard the amazing news I now work for as an intern dog trainer and also as a kennel attendant at the daycare/boarding kennel 🐕🐈
This new endeavor has made me busier than usual, in the best way possible.
Do not fret though, as I have some exciting ideas for the spring/summer time in the works, so stay tuned to my social media 😁🖤

Reminder I offer a service that caters to dogs of any temperament 🐶🐾

My off leash runs are located about 20km south of Saskatoon on fully fenced, privately owned land! 🌲
••
This way your pup gets to run and play (send any toys you want!) by themselves without risking running into other dogs or breaking Saskatoon bylaws! I also offer the runs to multiple dogs if they're from the same household or know each other 🐶

Rates:
30 minutes $30
45 minutes $40
Plus additional $10 per dog.
*Time does not include travel
*This service only available to residents of Saskatoon currently

Cedar loves jumping up onto things in the park and today we made a fun game of it!
••
In the second video a large crow was sqwaking very close to us on a table and then a city bus drove by making a unexpected loud noise. Cedar was visibly nervous, so I redirected her attention to me and rewarded her 😊

First time in Bone & Biscuit for Cedar today! 🐾
•
It's miserably cold out there today with 100km winds, snow and ice! 🥶
So Cedar and I went for a small adventure today to one of my favorite locally owned pet stores! 🛍
•
Cedar was quite nervous in the store and was spooked by a man in a toque, so we only stayed about 5 minutes total to keep it a short and happy experience for her. They so kindly gave us her Buffalo ear treat for free since my card tap wouldn't work! 😅
•
It's so important for young dogs to be exposed to many different places, sounds etc. To ensure it's positive exposure be sure to keep it short and sweet!
•
A good way to know if your dog is done in a store is to keep an eye on your dogs body language and they will tell you when they've had enough and it's time to go home! 😊
•
Some signs of stress in dogs that could be telling you they're over stimulated or about to become 🤪:

-panting/shaking
-yawning/licking lips/drooling
-stiff body posture
-tail tucked tightly between legs
-will not accept treats
-won't listen to commands/focus on you/avoiding you and pulling to the end of the leash

*every single dog is different and yours may show different signs of stress or happiness

🎈 Happy 1st Birthday Cedar! 🎈

I met this gorgeous, smart, happy go lucky girl this past fall/winter when she was just a little bean (peep the last photo!) 🥺

After the closure of the daycare Cedar and I met at, her mom got in touch with me and I've been so lucky to get to see Cedar 4-5x a week for the last 2 months 🦮
••
I left her with a little gift including a bag of my homemade berry banana Pupsicles🐾 and a few things from Evolution Raw Pet Food including a dried beef trachea, turkey bone broth and Topit 😋

Working on self control and recall in the park today with Cedar 🦮
•
Cedar is just about a year old (her 1st birthday is coming up fast!🎁) She's super intuitive, smart and eager to learn!
•
While on my 20 foot Arsenal K9 Gear long line I allowed Cedar to play some ball as a reward for her amazing listening.
While I do not condone letting dogs run in the park off leash as to respect leash bylaws, other dogs and people, I will let choice dogs drag their leash momentarily for some run or play time.
•
After 2 months of 4x week walks and runs Cedar has shown me with her recall and listening skills she is reliable enough for a few minutes of free time. I made sure the park was empty of other dogs entirely beforehand also. You never know if a dog is reactive and it would be selfish of me to let Cedar run in front of them.
She came whenever I called and didn't wander! The best girl.

🌟 Saturday adventures! 🐾

Echo and Stark went for their first off leash run with me today and they rocked it! It was a bit muddy and I lost my phone in a mud puddle (waterproof thankfully 😅) for a few minutes but that didn't stop us!
•
If your pup needs some room to run and stretch their legs now that it's getting nice out send me a DM! This land about 20km south of Saskatoon, is privately owned and completely fenced so no worries of running into other dogs if they are dog reactive/aggressive. I also add a long line (15 or 30 foot leash) for their first few runs onto a harness ideally (or a flat collar) just in case 😉
•
I also offer runs with dogs from different households if they want a place to play and run with their buddies! 🐕

💫My off leash run rates are:

🐾$30 for 30 minutes
🐾$40 for 45 minutes

🐕‍🦺Plus $10/additional dog
*Times do not include travel time. Only available to clients in Saskatoon at this time.

💛 Otis 💛

Otis' mom had a dance class in Saskatoon this weekend so they traveled in this morning from their hometown of Regina and she dopped him off with me for a lovely hour walk in the park behind my house! 🐕
•
Otis is just a year old and is still a super excited puppy! We focused on loose leash walking, heeling and general engagement while walking. He's a super smart boy and caught on quickly 🧠
•
If you're ever traveling to the city for an appointment/class ect and need to bring your pup but don't want them alone in the car, just send me a DM! I can either meet you somewhere, or you can drop your pup off with me and I can bring them back to you after our walk anywhere in Saskatoon for no extra charge ☺🚗

Our all time favorite brand is hands down and we buy our locally at
We have 5 treat toys from them so far. 2 large Toppl's, 1 small, 1 small Tux and a Quizl.

Our favorite one by far is the largest sized Toppl though.
💟I love this one for a variety of reasons such as:
•easy to clean by hand and dishwasher friendly
•freezer friendly (freezing solid overnight will extend the life of the Toppl by like an hour or more!)
•large opening perfect for flatter face dogs like Nova who cannot reach all the food out of a Kong

🐕Small dog nutrition vs large dog

There is no difference nutritionally specifically between small and large dogs in regards to feeding raw.
The only thing that came to mind is the size of bones they can have. I have added a screenshot of a list of safe bones for small, medium and large breed dogs from along with a list of bones of avoid for all breeds of dogs.
I will add though that I do feed Nova knuckle bones as they are the only kind of bone I have found that lasts her longer than half an hour. You know your dog best and what they can handle of course.

💫I did a poll on my stories about a week ago on what informational post everyone would like to see next and this is what you all decided ☺️

🐕‍🦺My walking pack includes:

💥Pet corrector spray 💥
•small can of compressed air that when dispensed makes a very loud, starling noise
•used if an off leash dog were to charge us in an attempt to keep it back and away from us

🦮Slip Lead🦮
•used to wrangle an off leash dog to keep away from us
•also kept in worst case scenario a dog bites and won’t let go. Using a leash, slip around their neck and choke them out until they eventually need to breathe and they let go
*Only to be used as an extreme last minute effort to reduce injuries*

🍪Extra treats🍪
•I always use your pets own treats/food on walks but I always have extra on hand (never chicken based kibble/treats as it is the #1 protein allergen in dogs and I always ask beforehand if they have any allergies)in case they need an extra reward or distraction on our walk

❇️Extras (for mostly me!)❇️
•roll of extra p**p bags
•hand sanitizer & lip chap

💫Having a vet med background and being a person who is always trying to be prepared for the worst prompted me to put this little diy first aid pack together to keep in my vehicle 🚙

⚕️Diy first aid kit includes:
•disposable rubber gloves
•Hibitane disinfectant and cream
•tweezers, forceps, bandage scissors
•vet wrap and tensor bandage
•gauze pads and qtips
•syringes and a few sterile insulin needles
•alcohol and alcohol pads
•baby wipes and towels
•extra kibble
•extra slip lead and martingale collar (also have a harness already in my vehicle)
•reference manual from tech school that includes dogs normal heart rate, respiratory rate and temperate

•Benadryl (for allergic reactions, wouldn’t administer without owner consent and a call to a vet for exact dosage)

Today’s topic is on..

💦💦WATER💦💦

❔Did you know cats have a low thirst drive and will not seek out water like dogs will? 💧
••
Lack of water drinking can lead to dehydration, which if chronic will lead to bladder problems and urinary diseases, including kidney disease and feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD)
••
Other common conditions from dehydration are bladder inflammation (cystitis), tumors , ruptured bladder, and stones. Bladder stones can lead to life-threatening urethral blockages, particularly in male cats.
••
Ciggy had a vet scare about six months ago where he didn’t pee/p**p for a whole week! 😣
That would have been life threatening if it was a blockage and he was in pain but thankfully he was his same self, but in enough discomfort we would not go.
••
He was diagnosed with idiopathic cystitis which translates to bladder inflammation of unknown origin. Some pain meds and he was back to normal!
••
So how do I prevent this from happening? Or happening again?🙀

1️⃣ Add extra liquid/supplements to their diet💦
•This can be in the form of bone broths, goats milk (we love brand which is local!) and just plain old water!
•quail eggs 🥚
•canned sardines 🐟 grocery store is fine as long as it has no added salt/oil/flavours (mine say packed in spring water)
•on top of liquids added, if your kitty is kibble fed only I highly recommend adding a wet/raw food meal into their diet at least 4x/week
•we love Bladder Support supplement!

2️⃣ Water fountains 💧
•do not keep water near food source or litter box
•cats are found to prefer running water sources to standing water
•this can be achieved in your home for around $40 with a cat water fountain.
•It’s quiet, super easy to clean and hold so much water! And the filters are cheap and only need to be changed monthly.

3️⃣ Extra litter boxes 💩
•rule of thumb is to always have one extra box per number cats you own. Ciggy has 2 to himself! One covered and one not.
•keep litter boxes away from loud/stressful areas of the home and try to scoop it daily!

✨🐕Off leash/pack runs🐕 ✨

Cost is 30/30 minutes or $40/45 minutes (plus travel time & $10/ additional dog from the same home)
I will pick up your pooch(es), drive them to private/fenced land and let them run and play off leash 🐕
I will only be offering this to clients in Saskatoon for the time being

I am open to taking multiple dogs from different homes under a few, small conditions.
1) dogs must have met prior, be familiar with each other and at least be neutral around one another
2) up to date on rabies and DAPP vaccines
3) females must not be in heat
These are potentially negotiable but are in place to ensure each dog is safe and happy ❤️

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Hades and his mom Monica in November of 2020 at my most recent doggy daycare job ❤️

I bonded so quickly with this special guy and his wonderful mama and am so honoured to have become close with them both over this winter 💞
••
This is what Monica had to say when asked about Hades’ care when with me at daycare:
