Just another reminder if you’re travelling to the US with your dog.

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS!

Many of you may have heard but on August 1st 2024, the rules surrounding travel to the USA have been changed. All dogs entering the United States must:

- Be over 6 months of age
- Have an microchip
- Have a rabies vaccination administered after their microchip was administered

We recommend travelers have health forms filled out by their veterinarian 30 days prior to traveling. These forms must be taken to a CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) veterinarian to be stamped.

Appointments must be made with the CFIA. They can be reached at 613-773-8616.

As of August 1st. All dogs crossing the U.S. border need to be micro chipped.
We can do this for your dog at the Sharbot Lake Clinic with Prior notice.
Call Sydenham Veterinary Services to have them send up a micro chip for your dog.

New guidelines for taking your dog to the US

IMPORTANT NEW GUIDELINES FOR TAKING YOUR DOG TO THE UNITED STATES:

In an effort to prevent the spread of Rabies the CDC has launched new rules for taking dogs into the Unites States. The new regulations will start August 1 2024. All dogs entering the US must appear healthy, be at least 6 months of age, be microchipped and accompanied by a "CDC Dog Import Form" receipt. The import form must be filled out online 2-10 days before crossing the border. This applies to all dogs including service dogs and dogs that were born in the United States but are returning from another country. More requirements may apply if the dog has traveled to other countries within the previous six months.
The CDC website offers a travel checklist and is where you can find the "CDC Dog Import Form".

You may have heard that there’s a solar eclipse on the horizon. Despite how cool Lennon the beagle here looks in these glasses, you don’t need to worry about taking any extra precautions for your pet on April 8th. While our pets do a lot of questionable things that can land them a visit with our vets, staring at the sun is generally not one of them. ☀️ 🌕 🐾
