Monstera Thai Constellation Raffle!! 6 prizes! 6 chances to win!

Arès Acres is hosting our first plant raffle! We opened the sanctuary in 2020 and over the years we have had the privilege to help many animals in need. As I am sure you can imagine caring for 30+ animals, many with health conditions and requiring special care comes at a cost. The sanctuary is in desperate need of some repairs and upgrades for our residents. If you would like to learn more about Arès Acres, please browse our page or send me a private message! Please consider entering the draw to help your local animal sanctuary and for a chance to win some awesome plants!

1st place- Monstera Thai Constellation
2nd place-Variegated Ring of Fire Philodendron
3rd place-Alocasia black velvet
4th place-Alocasia Regal Shield
5th place- Pothos Snow Queen
6th place- 10-piece adhesive plant clips

Rules:
-$20 per spot, with a minimum of 25 spots needed for the draw. You are welcome to buy as many spots as you want!

-The draw will be done from a random number generator online 1 week after 25 spots have been filled. We want to give Arès Acres the chance to raise as much money as possible for the animals.

-Another post will be made once 25 spots have been filled to let everyone know about the draw the following week.

-An e-transfer is needed to hold a spot! Your spot won't count unless I've received e-transfer to [email protected]

Send Bronwyn Arès a message if you would like to participate, I will need the name on the e-transfer and the name you would like in the raffle.

-If you cannot send e-transfers, we can arrange to meet up for a cash transfer.

-Since this raffle will be on multiple pages, I will randomly assign a number to each participant, I will update both Arès Acres and Aurora Plant Auctions daily to let you know how many spots are left. **If there is a number that you would prefer, just let me know and I will see if it is available**

-There is no shipping available but I'm willing to hold the plant if needed until pickup or meetup can be arranged.

-Meet-up can be arranged in Fredericton, Oromocto, and Douglas Harbour. You are also welcomed to come pick up your plant at Arès Acres and meet some of the animals!

***I would like to say a special thank you to all the people who have donated plants to help make this auction possible. It is because of people like you that we can keep doing what we do! If you are interested in donating plants or plant accessories for a future auction, please let me know!

Today’s residents of the day are Billy, Mamma, and Speckles!

These troublemakers came to us in 2022 bringing with them so much life, joy, and awakening patience that we didn’t even know we had! While they have a dark past, these guys are the definition of perseverance and strength. They have been given a new lease on life and plan to use every bit of it. Billy, Mamma, and Speckles spend their days wondering free on Arès Acres. They have a fear of confinement and do not do well if they feel they are being fenced in.

You will always find them together; Mamma is mother to both Billy and Speckles; they have been inseparable from the beginning and have never spent a day apart. They love to strip the bark off of trees, as well as graze on grasses and shrubs. Their favorite treats are the wild strawberries that grow throughout the acreage. They have a somewhat startling way of communicating with each other, you will often see them greet one another with a loud head butt as they slam their horns against each other- It is quite it the sight!

Today’s resident of the day is Theodore Albert Theopolis the second. Theo arrived at Arès Acres January of 2021. He was born on a dairy farm in Nova Scotia and was very ill, he was one week old when we picked him up. We bottle fed him multiple times a day, every day for three months and after numerous vet visits and treatment plans, he eventually got better!

Theodore loves to run and play! His favorite things to do include playing with his large pink ball and chasing his friend Maisie pig around the pasture. Theo is a picky eater; we have found it difficult to keep weight on him- especially in the winter months. He thrives in the summer and loves to join his human companions on walks around the pasture. A unique thing about Theo is that he has never been able to moo “properly” it always comes out as a sort of whisper or low growl. We hope you all get to hear it one day!! Theo would love some more yoga balls to play with, they can be found on our amazon wish list- just click the link below!

Our resident of the day is Mr. Gray also known as Grayson when he being naughty- which happens often. Gray is always the first face you will see when you visit Arès Acres. He joined the family in 2021, when his previous family could no longer care for him. He was purchased along with another turkey for slaughter, when they were just babies. When the turkey he was purchased with suddenly passed away he was mostly raised by a young girl. The family reached out when they decided they could not process him for meat. They wanted to see him live a long and happy life, we are so thankful that they chose Arès Acres to help realize this dream.

This is a very common situation and unfortunately a sad reality of what happens to animals that are adopted because they are “cute” as babies or owners have a change of heart. We have seen it time and time again with many animals, especially chickens, turkeys, and pot belly pigs.

Grayson has behavioural problems and obsessive tendencies, but we love him anyway! Grayson can always be found peering into the house from outside, he loves to people watch! His favorite activies are going for walks with his humans, perching on our boots, dancing, and playing with his soccer ball! Gray is a turkey of many talents, not only can he play soccer at an elite level and dances as graceful as a swan, but he also takes his Turk-wando very seriously! His favourite person to practice on is Pier-Luc, what an honour!

Mr. gray would love some more enrichment activites! Ideas can be found on our amazon shopping list below.

Today’s resident of the day is Masie! She joined our family in the summer of 2021. Maisie was found wondering the streets of Moncton, she was only 9 weeks old! She has always been a free spirit and does not enjoy being alone. We had her set up in her own pasture for a while, but she kept finding ways out of her enclosure to be with the cows. So, we decided it was in her best interest to let her live with Theo and Clementine! The trio have since created a very strong bond. Maisie’s favourite activities are constructing her own swimming pools in the pasture (she has a few) and creating walking trails in the snow to help her get from place to place with ease.

Maisie is an expert interior designer, she can often be found carrying various things into her house for decoration, such as logs, clumps of grass, hay, etc. She loves to eat anything and everything, as long as it isn’t zucchini! Maisie loves to keep up with her fitness, she goes on daily walks around the pasture and loves when her human companions join her.

Our residents of the day are Opal & Pearl, when visiting Arès Acres you may think you are seeing double, as these girls are identical! However, these tenacious twins are one of a kind! Opal and Pearl are miniature leghorns weighing in at under 5 pounds each. They were bred for show but unfortunately did not make the cut and were going to be left out for the foxes to kill.

Luckily for these hens, a kind soul swooped them up and saved them. They found their way to us and have been living peacefully ever since. They spend their days with the other hens and Mr. Jenkins in the coop. They adore the summer as this is when they can forage around for grubs! Opal and Pearl are great at flying and can often be found relaxing on the roof of their coop! Since they can fly, we were concerned about keeping them safe, but they seem quite content with their flock and choose to stay within the bounds of their enclosure. Opal and Pearl quickly rose to the top of the pecking order, they suffer no fools. They are a no drama duo and have high “egg-spectations” of their fellow coop mates. Opal and Pearl would love some enrichment toys for those cold winter days when they are inside the coop! Some ideas and items can be found on our amazon shopping list!

Our resident of the day is Clementine. She was rescued on October 13 2020, she was just 5 days old. Clementine was born on a dairy farm, she was the first baby her mother ever had. It is common practice in dairy farms to cross a first time Holstein mother with a smaller breed such as black angus as these calves are smaller and easier for the first-time mother to birth. In these scenarios the “mixed” calves are not used for the meat or dairy industries, they are discarded right away or fattened up for veal, slaughtered at 3 months old. This allows the mother’s milk to be collected for human consumption. ***cows need to be pregnant to produce milk***

We brought Clementine home in the back of our car and carried her into the barn, we fell in love with her instantly. We bottle fed her 3 times a day for 3 months, she drank 2-4L every feeding. Fast forward 3 years and she is now the queen of the pasture! She spends her days grazing the fields and scratching herself on trees. Her favourite things to do are, breaking out of the fence to graze in the hay barn and eat dinner with her pal Theo. She loves human companionship and is looking forward to her springtime bath and brush. Clementine would love some more grooming supplies to help her look her best! These items can be found on our amazon shopping list!

Our resident of the day is Mr. Jenkins! Mr. Jenkins is the truly the heart of the farm. He is 3 years old and our first rescue! He spends his days watching over the hens in the coop and warding off predators with his mighty crowing. His favourite activities are hanging out with his human friends and kicking shavings into his water bowl. His favourite things to eat are various fruit- especially oranges and watermelon! Mr. J is no chicken! He is a fierce protector of his flock and will stand up to anyone he deems a threat to “his” hens. According to him he has single handily fought off an entire pack of wolves, I am not sure how much we believe this, but we will let him have it! Mr. Jenkins would love some more dried mealworms; they can be found on our amazon shopping list! He is so busy protecting the flock that he doesn’t always have time to forage around for grubs, sometimes a quick hit of protein is what he needs!
