THIS PIANO IS PURRFECT!
HC foster kitty, Lollipop, has discovered her foster parents’s piano - how cute is she at all!
MAMA-TO-BE IS SAFE AND SOUND ❤️
Soot is our latest and very pregnant arrival.
She was living on the streets, but is now safe and sound in an HC foster home 😀
Huge thanks must go out to the kind person who had been feeding her for a long time and drove a bit of a distance to get her to us yesterday.
We also have to extend our gratitude to the wonderful foster parent who is looking after Soot for us - we couldn’t save lives without compassionate people to shelter them for us.
WELCOME TO HEAVENLY CREATURES 😃
NELLIE
Nellie came into our care on Friday because, despite her family’s best efforts, they couldn’t get her and their other cat to co-exist peacefully.
They were heartbroken to have to give Nellie up, but they knew they had no choice after months of trying to make it work.
We’ve placed Nellie in a home where she can be queen of the castle - she is the only pet.
As you can see, she is settling in well ❤️
SWEET SISTERS
These two beauties, Eva and Sooty, were adopted from HC a year apart; Eva joined the family last fall.
They may not be biological sisters, but they are sisters in every way that matters.
As you can see, they very much love each other ❤️
ADORABLE ABE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
HC foster kitty Abe is young (approx 18 months or less) and curious.
Here he was recently stealing his foster mom’s pop 😂
Abe has been neutered, has tested negative for FIV and FELV, and has been examined by a vet.
He is good with other cats (he lived with at least two others) and would probably be fine with dogs, too.
We plan to have him at Pet Valu on Ropewalk Lane next Saturday afternoon (12-4) for meet and greets unless someone applies to adopt him in the meantime and wants to meet him at his foster home.
BEANS IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!
BEANS’ PROFILE:
- Neutered male
- FIV positive
- Approx. 3-5 years
- Cuddly
- May be suitable for a home with another cat
- Not suitable for a home with dogs who are hyper or small kids
ABOUT BEANS
Beans is one of those cases that reminds us of why we do what we do
Heavenly Creatures often rescues scared, traumatized cats who are not feral, but who temporarily act like it because they’ve been on the street for a long time; they’ve forgotten what it is to live in a house and interact with people.
Such was the case with Beans, a tabby who came to us from the streets of Witless Bay in June of 2022.
He had been through a lot and it showed - his foster mom couldn’t touch him for the first few months.
However, she was devoted to winning him over and she exercised great patience while he made tiny improvements.
Suddenly, sometime in October Beans decided that touching was a wonderful thing!
He has truly blossomed since then. He loves to cuddle and will kiss and headbutt you.
After all that time on the street, Beans more than deserves a home to call his own.
Beans is not sick from the FIV; he is asymptomatic. In our experience, most FIV positive cats never develop symptoms, they are only carriers of it.
There has to be someone reading this who is willing to look past this beautiful fellow’s FIV status and welcome him into their home as well as their heart.
BEANS’ FOSTER MOM SAYS:
“Beans, Beans, he’s good for your heart.
This poor, furry boy came to me with a lot of fear and it took him a long time to come out of hiding, but with time and patience, I could see the sweet little Beans inside.
As he became braver, his personality shone through and his playful side emerged.
He is curious about other cats but is nervous when he first meets them. He desperately wants a friend but feels most confident meeting through a glass door at first.
Now he loves cuddling so much he drools.

TANNER UPDATE: GOOD NEWS ❤️❤️❤️
Tanner is now out of the pound and all went well during his vet visit today.
He was neutered, examined, SNAP tested for FIV and FELV (he was negative for both), given Advantage and sent home with Milbemax as a precaution against worms.
As you can see, he is LOVING being out of a cage and in a warm foster home 🙂
He is estimated to be a year of age or less. If his foster parents don’t decide to keep him, he will be up for adoption early in the new year.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it possible to afford to rescue him ❤️
OUR PET FOOD TRUCK IS NEXT TO EMPTY:
PLEASE HELP US FILL THE TRUCK - WE NEED TO KEEP FURRY TUMMIES FULL!
Our Christmas Pet Food and Donation Drive started last Saturday and thus far we’ve not gotten much support. 😿
The pet food is being used almost faster than it is coming in because not much is coming in. 💔
Three hundred. That’s roughly the number of tins of cat food (not to mention all the dog food) we gave out on Saturday past between the HC foster parents who are sheltering animals for us and low-income pet parents we are helping with food when they hit rough patches.
I ve been posting my heart out about our Heavenly Creatures’ food drive and don’t know what else to say to get more people to come by with pet food other than to try to put things in perspective for everyone by showing this video and relating the following truths:
- We get go through A LOT of pet food and the little bit that is in the truck now is not going to go far. It won’t last a few weeks, but less a few months.
- The truck needs to be full of pet food donations (and we need a lot more financial donations for vet bills) like it was last Christmas in order for us to have enough to get through the coming months.
- Otherwise, while won’t have to close, we WILL have to cut back on our programs this winter, such as our Pet Food Bank and low income vet bill assistance program, which means that animals and the people who love them will suffer.
One of the low-income people we helped this last weekend with food is an elderly man who has just been diagnosed with a crippling disease. Despite this, he walked to our office using his cane to get some cat food for his cat 💔 who dearly loves because he is struggling financially and needed our help.
If we’re forced to cut back on our Pet Food Bank, what happens to cats such as his?
But we can’t give what we don’t have and as we receive NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING, our ability to keep the animals we help fed and in vet c

FOSTER HOME & DONATIONS NEEDED FOR PUSS!
This poor fellow, who is hopping around on three legs, is Puss - he was an emergency rescue this week to whom we couldn’t say no.
He was already on our waiting list for shelter as he was homeless and trying to survive on the streets of Avondale. 💔 It’s hard trying to survive in the cold for these poor cats 😿
We were looking for space for him, but then he showed up at his caretaker’s house with an injured leg before we could get him.
The good news is that it isn’t broken.
The bad news is that we’ve just had him at the VSC and now we owe a bill there for over $1500 that we soon have to pay - we really need help with this. We’re already drowning in vet bills 🤦♀️😿
We also need help with somewhere for him to stay. Right now we have him in a small room as that is the only space we have available, but he would like a foster home before Christmas; he’ll be neutered next Wednesday and then would like a place in time for Santa.
He did test positive for FIV, so any other cat living there would either have to be positive or relaxed with others (As long as the cats aren’t mating, FIV is only spread by deep tissue wounds from fighting).
If you can give him shelter or if you can donate, please see below.

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR SICK STRAY!
Today we’ve had a couple of emergencies and this poor girl is one of them.
She was found as a stray in the Prowse Avenue area - and we have her at Avalon Animal Hospital today because as you can see, “Ginger, as she is being called,” is terribly sick with a respiratory virus.
She’s emaciated and she’s struggling to breathe from her bad flu 💔
We were alread overwhelmed, but couldn’t say no - if anyone can help us with a donation toward her vet care, we’d be very grateful.

WE’RE ALMOST OUT OF CAT LITTER, TOO 😿
Hey everyone,
It’s the end of the year and so we’re low on almost everything, but we’re presently particularly low on CAT LITTER and WET DOG FOOD.
I just took this video of the tiny bit of litter we have left - seven boxes - which given that we are sheltering almost seventy cats, is only enough to last another few days, maybe a week. We’re DESPERATE for some litter donations!
This is why it’s so important for the public to support our upcoming Christmas Pet Food & Donation Drive which starts on Dec. 10th and runs until Dec. 23rd.
You can find all the details for the drive on the front page of our website, which is www.heavenly creatures.ca (Our Christmas Wish List is there as well).
We simply can’t afford to feed and provide medical care for all these animals without A LOT of food donations and monetary donations for vet bills.
We get NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING and it costs $20, 000 plus a month to keep HC going, which comes almost exclusively from kind individuals making donations (with the exception of a few fundraisers).
DONATION DROP-OFF DETAILS
If anyone would like to drop off a donation before the food drive officially starts, we’re here (our office is located at 292 Lemarchant Rd.) this Saturday from noon to four p.m.
We’re also open next Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
As of Dec. 10th, we’ll be open every day up to and including Dec. 23rd. for our Pet Food & Donation Drive.
If you can’t make it in person, but want to help, you can send a donation via the following link and a tax receipt will be automatically sent to you:

Pluto, who we posted for adoption last night, is great with his foster sister :)
ZZZZZZ . . . .
HC foster kitty, Fergus, was snoring up a storm during his foster family’s movie night tonight 😂
Fergus (formerly Mickey) is an FIV positive boy who was a rescue from Chapel’s Cove last fall; he had been on the streets for a long time and it showed at the time of his rescue.
However, he is in much better shape these days, is living the good life and his foster parents will likely be adopting his sweet self ❤️
THE LAST ARRIVALS OF 2021 ❤️
We managed to squeeze two more rescues in before the year ended!
Feral kitten siblings Missy (the calico) and Elliott (the orange guy) came into our care today from a kind man who rescued them from Victoria earlier this month.
They were living outside next door to our litter of Seinfeld-named kittens and also needed help.
He kindly took them in until we had the resources to shelter them.
They saw the vet today (they are about four and a half pounds each, three and a half to four months of age, negative for FIV and FELV and have been given flea and worm medicine).
They are coming along nicely and will be available TOGETHER for adoption sometime in January to a quiet home once they have been better socialized.
How sweet is this?!
Our orphaned kittens -an emergency rescue from earlier this week - have been given a purring toy by their foster mom that sounds like a real cat.
As you can tell, they clearly love it :)
