CKC isn't the only one that doesn't vet breeders or dogs well.
Just pay your fee and you're selling registered dogs.
There needs to be checks on the standards... not just cheques.
This is why we support the WCA. Papers are only provisional until the dog is proven to meet their standards. Papered birth isn't a blank cheque to be bred as a registered dog.

Litter expected end of October. TEAM Catahoulas Trip Wire and Tuska Homma's Live.
Livy has placed at Uncle Earl's twice in 2 dog events and Trip is a very strong 2 dog competitor with a number of perfects on limited runs the past couple of years. The base of their pedigrees is a collection of Alexander and Tuska Homma bred dogs a very extensive list of U.E, Major Event and local event wins.

A German Shepherd, Doberman Pinscher, and Louisiana Catahoula Dog have died. All three are faced with God who wants to know what they believe in.
The German Shepherd says, “I believe in discipline, training and loyalty to my master.”
“Good,” says God “then you shall sit by my right side.”
“Doberman, what do you believe in?” Asked God.
Doberman answered, “I believe in the love, care and protection of my master.”
“Aha.” God said, “you may sit by my left side.”
He looks at the Louisiana Catahoula Dog and asks, “what do you believe?”
The Louisiana Catahoula Dog answers, “I believe you are sitting in my seat.”

Team Catahoulas remembers Tuska Homma's Long Running Tongue aka "Licker". One of the most balanced built dogs between size and agility I have seen. I always admired him (From a distance...lol inside joke ).
Conformationally gorgeous and had drive that kept him going until 6 months past his 13th birthday. Owned by Renee Jackson we were lucky enough to run Odin with him at Uncle earls just a few years ago. If you knew these two males they are beyond alpha. Before going in the pen we didnt know if we were gonna get a bay a catch or a dog fight. The boys drew a tough running sob of a hog and did well. Licker is an uncle of Valkyrie and it often shows. Thanks Renee for giving us the opportunity to know and work with such a fine dog. RIP Lick.

All of you sneering at reputable breeders take note: if you walk through your local shelter, you will not find a single well bred, reputably bred dog in their kennels. You will find pit bulls and poorly bred labradors and chihuahuas and toy breeds with goggly eyes and crooked legs, but you won't find one from a reputable breeder, who's parents have been health tested. temperament and conformation and breed studied, preventative measures taken against known possible lifelong injury and infection. Why won't you find one of our dogs there? Because our dogs are registered and sold with an agreement that states if the owner must rehome then the dog comes back to the place it was born.... at any age.
When the well bred dogs go extinct, you will wonder why.
I admire people that rescue... but the problem is not those that run real programs in breeding its those that think letting 2 dogs make pu0pies is breeding.

The least important part of a Catahoula is it's spots. We do not place, keep or compete our dogs based on colour or spots and won't support a registry that does. Other than to cull for the heath issues of excessive white there should be no preference to colour. Solid coloured dogs are essential to the health of the breed. Health, Performance , Intelligence, Character, Physique . These are our priorities. This is how the breed was developed.... this is how it should it should continue.
