Hello everyone
A number of years ago I worked at a small pet store and was blown away at the amount of people that came in unable to care for their birds. Many of which had been taken care of improperly; either fed a poor diet, had consistent wing clipping, no socialization, hormonal issues, or were aggressive. Some people just couldn’t handle the dedication companion birds require and were looking for options on surrendering.
In an attempted to manage my guilt from working in a place were money came first and animal well-fair came second. I decided to open a small avian rescue out of my home. I had sectioned off 2 bedrooms and my living room in order to have a quarantine room, sleeping room, and an enrichment space for free flight and foraging. I felt I was doing well with over 100 birds that came through my door during the time I was operating.
In early 2016 my health changed and in fear of being unable to care for the birds, i stopped taking in new rescues and found great homes for everyone in my care. My health is back to tip top and with the addition of a wonderful animal loving friend, I have decided it’s time to reopen and help these amazing animals once again.
Once we are finished setting up, we will be offering bird boarding, in home or virtual training session, diet education, and of course a surrender and adoption program.
If anyone is interested in donating supplies (toys, cages, perches) we would be eternally grateful!
Thanks for reading!
