The meat chickies are growing!!
Faith, family, fun and farm animals. We are a family of 6 living out in the country in southern Manitoba. We have beef and eggs available for purchase.
(1)
We raise beef cattle, Boer goats, livestock guardian dogs, cattle working dogs and performance horses (cutting/working cow/reining) with a flock of chickens that give us a steady supply of farm fresh free range eggs. We will also have goats available in the fall.

These little furballs have been MIA since the end of June. We knew our girl Oreo had had kittens and that she was nursing them but we could not find them anywhere!! Today our neighbor came to take their bales out of the shelter that sits close to the property line and wouldn't you know, a teenie black kitten was found crawling between 2 bales. As he took more bales out, we found another 2 . So now we have 3 very cute kitties who will be tamed and looking for new homes in a few weeks. π Not gonna lie, I may have to keep the mostly white one. So cool!! π
The four newly weaned boys are not appreciating their new living situation π
We are very excited to announce our litter for 2024 which will be arriving at the end of September!!
This handsome guy, being 9 months old, is still very much a puppy despite his size. He likes to play with his goat friends a little too much so he has this chunk of wood attached to his collar. It is not very heavy, its only purpose is to trip up his feet when he tries to chase them.
Taking a bit of a break from posting as we enjoy our annual road trip to Alberta. Visiting much loved family as well as the Calgary Zoo and The Royal Tyrrell Museum. We also got to drive out to Lake Abraham which never disappoints with the amazing views along the way and on the rocky beach. A huge thank you to our wonderful helpers at home taking care of our farm while we're away β₯οΈ
Exciting news!! After many years of AI just not working out weβre looking forward to the girls' future barrel stars arriving next May. We bred two of our money earning mares to Chelsea Driedgerβs awesome stallion Nickster to make some serious barrel contenders. The blue roan mare Kitty is an NCHA $ earning daughter of Mecom Blue and the sorrel is Jodiβs NRHA $ earning daughter of Lakota Chic. A HUGE thank you to Camille Heyens Reesor for telling us about Nickster and Chelsea Driedger for doing an amazing job getting our mares bred!
Toby has become a very playful and attention seeking little handful. He is definitely our favorite kitty π₯°

This is hands down the best $17 I have ever spent on my goats! It is saving my new fences from being rubbed on and stretched. Think I'll have to get a few more!
It's been 5 years of moving portable electric net goat fences around our farm yard every 2-3 weeks thru the summer and fall. 5 years of chasing goats from one pen to another which the kids do NOT enjoy π 5 years of "it'll be nice when" but it is finally done!! I finally have a beautifully fenced pasture for my goats that they can stay in for the whole season! I am LOVING it πππ
Who needs a pony for your kids when you've got colts like this who your 5-year-old can lead around. Love his mind already even with his family jewels intact.
Poppy is a 4 year old AQHA mare. She has not been broke to ride due to lack of time. She's easy to catch and loves attention. Her dam is a finished reiner with earnings. Her sire is also an NRHA earner with one of his sons being the 2018 NRCHA Open Bridle World Champion. She has the potential to be a great show horse and eventual broodmare. Priced to sell.

Um, girlies, that is not what your creep feeder is for! π
These girls have been in here for a few days now and they are loving it π
The goat fences are going up! The holding pen has its posts (pic 1), the yard pen is complete (pics 2-4) and the pasture fences are in the beginning stages (pics 5-6) π
Free farm cats are the best π working on taming my new boy Toby. He seems to have a calm mind which helps a lot. π₯° No he will not be a house cat π
Success!
They love the concrete ledge π
Gus and I headed into town last week. Another new adventure for him! We even got to stop and wait for a school bus to pick up a kid. While he handled it very well, I don't think we'll be entering parades anytime soon π
After a particularly hard week, happy goats on new grass and babies on a rock pile make me smile β€οΈ
Finally some grass!
A few more calves have arrived and theyβre marked more like what we were expecting. Iβm really happy with the calves weβve been getting so far.
Today's ride was all about water which he hasn't had much experience with. Was a bit of a rough start but by the end of it, he was trudging thru like an old pro. He even played in it a bit at the deepest section which was around 2 feet deep. Figured I'd let him graze the fresh green grass for a little bit when we were done but he was too weirded out that I was sitting on the ground π
I'm pretty pumped that I get to ride this handsome guy this week. Still a gentleman β€οΈ
Finally got out to check fence lines and ponds in preparation for summer grazing. I had a different partner this year, sheβs a solid mare we raised and trained, back for a tune up.
Expanded the baby play pen π
This mare will be hanging out with us for a little bit so I can get her ready for the riding season for a family member. Today we focused on getting her to slow down. In the past, as soon as she got into the round pen she decided she had to trot or lope. So today was all about slow. When she breaks to a trot, you'll hear me do a low hum which is her cue to slow down without stopping. That is still a work in progress as she hasn't used that button for quite some time.
The first calf is here, heβs a lot more red than I was expecting just a couple little white flecks on his head. All our calves last year by a Herford bull were baldies.
Garden update!
Fresh lettuce, broccoli, radishes, mini tomatoes (not pictured) and zucchini from the vegetable garden and then DELICIOUS raspberries and cherries from our fruit garden. So so good! The grapes and apples are coming along nicely too!
Side note: what does everybody do with their zucchini?!?! Evidently one plant would've been enough for freezing shredded zucchini for cakes. I have 3 plants π need ideas!!

5 year old having a blast learning to drive. She hasn't mastered the gradual lift off the gas when it's time to stop. You have to be ready for it π
Little Rocky boy got himself into a bit of a bind this morning when he was going for a roll. Being cast can be a very panic filled situation for any horse but this little guy just laid there completely calm while I walked up and opened up his panels so he could get up safely. He was laying there for no more than a couple minutes in total as I could see his pen from where I was eating my lunch. He's a special one β€οΈ I took a pic of him as I walked up just so you could see the position he was in. *I did NOT stop to take the pic, I took it while walking and talking calmly to him. Pic in comments. Now back to my now cold eggs π
Did chores late last night and the babies quite enjoyed my water pails π Ace is a beast!! (front and center) He and a handful of these girls are taking deposits.
Just two minutes of Boots and Chester (think that's what I'll call him till he goes to his new home) being cute π₯°
The triplets are doing amazing!! Their mom has more than enough milk so they are thriving β€οΈ I think they want out of their little jail π
With the arrival of more kids, some of the older ones had to move into the group pen. They're starting to find their bouncy legs π
I love taking Sadie out to work cows. She's confident, has good bite but isn't overly aggressive. She's still learning to stay at the back and not go too far forward into the herd. Here we're moving the steers into their shelter so that we can bring the cows in for water. They got to running so I called her off and they settled into a fast walk the rest of the way.
