It takes roughly 3 weeks for a shelter dog to decompress from the stress of a shelter experience and toughly 3 months to even begin to trust again . Slow calm rewards based teaching is required . Love takes time.

New study tested 27 pet foods to see if mislabelling was still happening in today’s day & age. Results showed ALL 27 bags were mislabelled as DNA testing found undeclared 🐔proteins🐷 in all bags. A major problem for pets suffering with food allergies!

So important to listen because fear is the cause of most bites. A growl is communicating a warning . Saying I don’t feel safe, help them instead of scolding them.

It's HOT out there! ☀️ 🔥 Please be cautious about having your dog accompany you to outdoor events (especially if they are on pavement!) and be sure they have lots of shade and fresh water when they do need to be outside. Do you know how to recognize signs of heat stroke in dogs?

If you observe these signs, get your dog out of the heat and to a veterinarian immediately - heat stroke can escalate fast!

Recently I have heard several stories about small dogs biting people and the residual fallout around it.
My take is that all dogs must be under the control of the owner at all times. This is what leashes and muzzles are for. Not all dogs are reliable or predictable for whatever reason, so it’s up to the human to be one step ahead. Failure to do so should result in fines and a dangerous dog order ( which means that the dog must be on leash and muzzled or face hefty fines).
Ps -extending leashes are not adequate.

We all have a role to play in this tragedy. Anyone who supports back yard breeders is complicit. A cheap puppy on the internet contributes to the problem, don’t do it. Anyone who thinks they can just make a few bucks by breeding their dog is contributing to the rise is genetically based illnesses in dogs. Do your research!
