Hi friends - I hope everyone has had an awesome Christmas. It's been a little quiet on the page here, as my sweet Gracie, who I talk a lot about here and on my website, is in the final stages of nose cancer. Gracie is just four, and we never expected something like this - but, I guess you never do, right? It has really brought home to me once more how important photos of our furry friends are. I'm grateful to have some beautiful photos of Gracie, and grateful she stuck around for one more Christmas (and a full plate of Christmas dinner, obviously). For now, we're enjoying the days we can with her, and grateful we get to say goodbye. Wishing you all happiness, joy and love. And if you're on the fence about doing a photoshoot with me in 2019 - aw, just book it already, wouldja? :)

I've recently moved to the Sunshine Coast and am delighted to offer shoots here now. I do go to Vancouver for shoots sometimes (Like this weekend, when I'm doing a charity shoot with The Pet Shop Boys Doggie Boutique and Spa Vancouver to benefit SAINTS rescue.)

As many of you know I am in Thailand until Feb, doing some really fun relaxing and recharging + some volunteering. Soon I will head to Phuket to spend three days helping out at Soi Dog, a wonderful shelter that has gotten worldwide attention. And it looks like I will be bringing home a cutie pie from Soi Dog to her new family in Vancouver on my return flight home. A long flight to be sure.. but hopefully a wonderful new life waiting for her once she makes it through. (PS - Feel like adopting a dog from Thailand? Today Muddy Love was selected as one of the top 100 Pet Photography Blogs on the planet (ok ok, number 60...but still!) It's really cool to be on a list with many photographers I totally admire. What's even cooler is, wow... a lot of people are really rocking pet photography careers these days! When I started Muddy Love there was just a handful, now there are thousands of photographers worldwide, killing it at this job. I always felt that this was an industry poised for growth. I get lots of emails and questions from people asking for advice on how to do this for work, and I'm always happy to share what I know because I love to see this industry grow. Amanda says: "OH MY GOSH I LOOOOOVEEEEE THEM!!
They turned out AMAZING!! So much better than I could have imagined! Too bad you didn’t do our wedding :p I was viewing them on my phone all weekend :):):) Brandon and I will certainly be downloading them all sometime this week. Upon our return from vacation I’ll absolutely look into ordering some so I’ll touch base with you again then! I just love them so much!!

Even Brandon loves them, which says a lot!! WOW!! Just so amazing!! You’re truly so talented!! My favorite photo changes by the hour, I love them all! especially some near the end when I’m holding the little guy/Brandon has him flipped over his shoulder.. so cute!! Actually, mad props that the ones of Brandon and I being affectionate didn’t look staged! Bah! They’re all just so beautiful and the colors of our clothes look so nice in the setting… just majestic!! TRULY! Oh!! And I totally see what you were doing about Henry being in the sun for some of them – he literally looks like he’s glowing! I could go on and on….

I felt like a bit of a dweeb for not bringing my dogs OR camera to but on the bright side it left my hands free to buy things (well ok and to hug the )!! Love seeing small businesses doing cool stuff in the pet space. Holy smokes.. (literally), the fires in BC are creating some very interesting light these days. This shot from a photoshoot yesterday has not even been edited yet, it's like we were on mars! I love the dreamy, misty light the sky is offering up, the creative possibilities are endless. (but of course feeling very sorry for all those people and animals affected by the fires).

Awe. Now how sweet is this story? Reminds me of Blackie. I adopted my old cat Blackie at age 11 thinking I'd give him "hospice care". In fact, He lived on to be 26!!! The household joke was that he looked younger every day.

This senior kitty was 20 years old when a kind family gave him a home to call his own.
