I recently came across this wonderful model for dog training. I think it's very significant especially when working with fearful dogs who may have had multiple placements. Equally important is to consider the trainer's well being. Trying to train a fearful dog can be a very stressful and sometimes isolating experience. Keep an eye open for my upcoming post on the heirarchy of the dog trainer's needs!

My name is Jan Dawson and I moved to Victoria BC in 2020..right in the middle of the pandemic. If you are a pet parent 55+ who has recently welcomed a dog into your home and you're discovering that your precious new dog is reactive and/or fearful I'd love to help you to create the confident, calm, fun companionship with your dog that you dreamed of having when you welcomed him/her into your hearts.
My role is to support and educate my clients to have a trusting, joyful and empowered life with their dogs.

With a background in working with both foster children and fearful foster dogs, I understand just how important it is to be patient and to create a training program tailored to the needs of both the dog and their person.
