I'll have a few of my snakes down at the reptile Expo in Toronto this weekend.
Many thanks to Rural Reptiles for taking them down for me. They are a local reptile rescue so take a look if you want to give a home to a new pet thats lost theirs.
Loving these Caramel Ghosts we held back.

Happy international world snake day.
Here is a picture of our resident King of King snakes "Obelix" the Hernando Co. Florida Kingsnake looking spectacular in his vivarium.
A great embassador for snakes who has already given many people a chance to overcome apprehension towards him.
Meet Pi ! She is a beautiful Florida kingsnake that we kept from last year's clutch.
We had many beautiful snakes, but she really stood out as a "normal" with her bright oranges and yellow. She is also het for mosaic and hypo.
Looking forward to see what hatches this year! We have 12 beautiful eggs that should hatch in a few weeks.
AMAZING! all of the Mexican Milksnakes have hatched. What a surprise! Some really unusual mutations of the color and pattern genes in one of the clutches. I was trying to get parents with the high black traits...it turned up in force this year!
Looks like I'll be holding back more than I thought, but some will definitely be looking for new homes with some lucky people
They are here! First two Annulatas, one from each clutch have emerged!
3 years in the making! Patience is a virtue for a
annulata
First egg has been pipped. (Cut open by a special "egg tooth" that falls off after use)
We are so excited here! 2 clutches of 7 eggs this year. It's a very rare breed of snake around here. Possibly because they have mall clutches and are picky eaters as hatclings. Once established though, they are amazing, tough snake in a small package.
3ft long, thick for their size (and being a milksnake) they are significantly calmer and easier to handle than many others.
The small size means less room when it comes to enclosures and feeding.
A great snake for first timers or to add to an existing collection.
There may be few still available in a month or 2 once they have been established as active feeders on mice.

The anticipation is real !!!
Our first clutch of eggs is overdue to hatch. We are waiting very... patiently
Mexican Milk snakes should be first. Followed by cornsnakes and Florida Kingsnakes.
We will have hatchlings available at some point and also some older snakes that we will move on to pet homes, or potentially for others to add to their projects.
Send a message if you'd like to now more and keep checking in as there will be lots of action here soon!
Another of our local, wild, friends.
This juvenile Eastern Milk Snake hatched last fall and survived the winter. Now if it can find lots of food it will grow into a beautiful adult and help us keep down our rodent population!
We love this time of year! Not only are our pet snakes laying eggs, outside the native population of snakes are waking up and moving around.
One of my All time favorites is the Eastern Milksnake
L. t. triangulum
This is a beautiful individual we found under a tarp while preparing the vegetable garden.
Here at Stonegrove we do everything we can to help ensure the wild snake population has a place on our property by providing habitat and being careful about the timing of when and how we move or turn our compost piles.
These guys are what stimulated the desire to keep and breed snakes. As a native species they are protected and can't be kept or removed from the wild. So happy I can observe them regularly in nature.
Inside we have our Cornsakes, Florida Kingsnakes and Mexican Milksnakes to work with.
Outside: Eastern Milksnake, Garter snake, Dekays brown snake, red bellied brown snake, ringneck snake, Northern watersnake and Massasauga Rattlesnakes close by in the area.
12 more healthy eggs from our Florida Kingsnake pair.
Can't wait to see what hatches! Last year's where stunning π
Baby Florida Kingsnakes !
Some are spoken for, some availability.
Let us know if your interested.
So beautiful. These Mexican milksnakes are amazing. Small but mighty and they really relax once they feel safe in your hands.
This little snake was all vinegar.
A beautiful Garter snake with such a unique shade of yellow orange throughout. Not a common coloring here at stonegrove where we have the typical light yellow and often some with 1 bright orange stripe.
It hooded up, musked one me and had a few nibbles. Absolutely no harm was done to me or the snake though, quite the opposite as it was found during a pre lawn mowing check
(it's always a good idea to take a walk over the yard before mowing to move animals out of the area)

Florida Kingsnakes, freshly hatched. They will brighten up a lot in the next week after the first hatch. We had 8 successfully emerge out of 10 original eggs. Some of these will be available in a few months once their health has been established and they are eating properly. Send us a Message if you are I tested or have questions. We are happy to support new snake owners I. getting things established and we will provide a starter colony of isopods and spring tails so you can get started with a Bio Active terrarium.
Amazing!!! our first ever Florida Kingsnake eggs have started hatching. Right on time at day 60 of incubation. Fingers crossed they all make it out!
This guy is such a show off. He loves coming out and asking "is it feeding day?" Today it is friend. Today is the day.
I managed to capture most of Red Sonja in the act of shedding a skin. Such an awesome thing to observe :)
It wouldn't be fair to forget about the little creatures that make up an important part of our snakes habitats. As has been mentioned many times the clean up crew of isopods, spring tails, millipedes and worms are important, but there is more! And this beautiful jumping spider is really precious, a favorite for sure. I love it when they make an appearance and show of the amazing colours and superb athletics One of the very few drawbacks of a bioactive terrarium is that these Flys can at times get a little overpopulated. Fungus gnats and phorrid flies are the main culprits. Particularly in New setups or after adding new materials like leaf litter, and wood/bark...they can hitch hike in. These jumping spiders are on the job though! happily catching and eating them.
This fine and sunny day brought 3 garters snakes to the yard...still no milks :( here is a quick video of one who was in our, soon to be planted tomatoes and pepper row
Well! "Obelix" our Hernando Co. Florida King snake finally got to move into his new digs. A Bio active Terrarium I built and put together. We are so happy to be able to observe him more in this environment.
Saw my first wild snake of the year. These adorable Garter snakes where all snuggled up together catching some sunshine. I was so lucky to catch this. You would never know they had a hole and a brumation den there. Did you know that studies have shown Garter snakes have a social life? they seek out familiar garter snakes each year and spend time with each other in small groups and communities. A rare thing in the snake world(as far as we know)
